Luke's pov

"Bro, why are you so quiet?" Michael questioned me as I spaced out, once again, looking out the window of the moving car. You need a drink already?" He teased from the driver's seat.

"Nah" I forced a smile. "I'm good" I tried to convince him. At least this time I was trying, but I'm not sure how persuasive it was. Turning back to face the window, I was hoping he would drop it, but knowing Michael, I wasn't too shocked when he continued.

"You mad we invited Blake?" He asked. His tone didn't sound as if he would break my stones for it. He simply sounded concerned for once, and wanted to make sure I was fine with it.

I shook my head slowly. "No, it's fine" I assured him. If I'm being honest, I may have been a little upset. It wasn't because she was a bad person, it's just for some reason I get all nervous around her and I didn't want to spend another day with the boys teasing me about it. Plus, she seemed to get along with all the boys except for me, so the tension between the two of us was always awkward.

"You sure?" He asked, eyeing me through the rear view mirror. I looked up and locked eyes with him for a moment and nodded.

"Yeah" I breathed, "it's cool" I answered genuinely. The other part of me was somewhat hoping I would be able to have a halfway decent conversation with her, without knocking her over or running into her this time.

I don't know what it was with her- one moment I wanted to talk to her, and then next I felt bitter and didn't even want her within gone hundred yards of me.

Before looking back down at the floor, I caught Ashton's glance in the mirror. I held his gaze for a moment and he flashed me a very subtle smirk in the mirror that was accompanied by a reassuring nod. I looked back down at the ground and smiled to myself because I knew he had my back today.

Minutes later we pulled into the parking lot of the private beach. It was an exclusive members only property which was sufficient because it meant no fans would be badgering us all day. It was nice to be able to get away from all the craziness and media drama once in a while.

Michael pulled the car into one of the first spots next to the boardwalk. I opened the backseat door and slid my legs out and stretched my arms in the air. "Gosh it's two thirty already?" I yawned, stretching out my tight limbs from the crammed backseat of the car.

"Yeah well if Calum hadn't made a wrong turn we wouldn't have gotten lost and it wouldn't be so late" Michael groaned, closing his door forcefully.

"Yeah but you're the one who followed him" I called my red headed friend out.

"I thought Blake drove" Ashton commented as he popped open the trunk of Michael's car.

"Nah Calum just likes driving her car" Michael answered and handed me a cooler of beers. "She's not used to driving on opposite sides of the road yet" he laughed and grabbed two lounge chairs and two towels while Ashton grabbed the other two. I flung my towel over my shoulder and readjusted my SnapBack.

"Oh right," Ashton commented. "I forgot it's different in America"

Just as I turned around, the blaring of a horn nearly made me drop everything. My fingers trembled and my heart skipped a beat from the obnoxious and unnecessary action. Michael was obviously frightened as well because he let out a new vocabulary of curse words as he turned to identify the driver.

"God dammit Calum" Ashton groaned and placed his hand over his heart as he bent down to pick up the striped towel he dropped. "Was that really necessary?" Ashton exclaimed and marched up to the passenger side of the car. The window rolled down to reveal Blake and Calum, both biting their lips to prevent laughing at their actions.
