48, 49, 50. Frank grabbed his 36 oz. Gatorade water bottle and took a nice, long drink, feeling satisfied with himself. He had just finished off his daily workout with 50 push-ups, a relaxing cool down for him. He gathered all of his stuff and got ready to leave.

"Frank, why you leaving so early?" Complained his friend Jack. Well, his nickname was Jack. His real name was Jackson, or that's what he claimed. Frank never knew his last name, but he knew not to push his boundaries. He didn't really talk about his past, something Frank could relate to.

"Sorry, man. Got to hit the books for our Econ. test on Monday. And you should, too." He knew Jack would rather be working out, or even better, swimming, than studying. Jack had a hard time focusing on numbers and letters, like Frank. But Frank knew he had to keep his grades up. He couldn't bear to leave his grandmother only to come back unaccomplished. Grandma was already disappointed in him enough and he would not give her another excuse to despise him.

"Yeah, yeah. I'll get to it sometime. See you back at the room." Did Frank mention they were roommates? Not going to lie, he lucked out when it came to roommates. Him, Jack, and Tyler all got along and had the same interests. They loved working out but also knew the importance of education. If your grades slipped below all C's, you're out. The school had a zero-tolerance policy for poor grades. Somehow Jack managed to keep all B's happily.

Frank trudged back to his dorm, not looking forward to studying. Studying always made him nervous, like he didn't know the information enough. It was hard to remember, but he made sure to never forget any of it. Mostly because every time he took a test, he imagined his grandmother looming over him, shouting insults in Chinese that he'll never quite understand. More motivation to ace everything he did, assignments included. He turned the corner, always looking for his room number before he got there. Although it was on the very end, you could never be sure of anything these days.

Once he found his room, he noticed something unusual. Now Frank wasn't popular, not even close, so why would a pretty girl be waiting outside his dorm? A girl was just sitting there, fiddling with her bracelet nervously. She had warm brown hair that fell around her jawline, freckles all across her naturally tanned face. She wore simple clothes, flower patterned and whatnot. Her high-topped white Converse were splashed with green... Grass stains presumably. Her facial features seemed welcoming and kind, as though she could make friends with anybody.

When she saw him, she stood up and straighten her clothes. Frank turned around, maybe she was looking at somebody else? It was just the two, oddly. He continued walking, dumbfounded at the sight of a girl. You see, Frank was rarely good with the ladies. Sure, he could manage to share a word or two, but after that, it went downhill. He would ramble and stutter, making it quite clear he hadn't talked to girls much. Though, he could never bring himself to have a desire to pursue any of them. The whole year and a few months he had been here and not a single girl stuck out. But Frank was beginning to suspect it wasn't the girls so much as him...

"Frank! Oh my laws, you take forever! We have to go now-" The girl stopped, noticing Frank's look of confusion.

"Oh. Right. You don't remember. I can help you with that! Please, you just have to come with me-"

Frank stopped her. "How about a name first before I go somewhere with you? And how did you know about my memories-" How could she know about his memories? He'd never told anyone about his missing past, never.

The girl giggled. "Katie. Katie Gardner. As for your memories... It's a long story. But I do know what happened, and why, so if you could come with me, that would be very much appreciated-"

"Hold up. Where would you take me? And besides, I kind of have this whole school thing; shouldn't you too?" Frank said.

Katie sighed and grabbed his hand. "Please. Just trust me. It'll all make sense shortly. Even Per- I mean Jackson will come, too. My partner is getting him along with another. A girl, I think. Can you trust someone you just barely met?" Katie had this look in her eye, a compassionate look like she genuinely wanted to do whatever she could to benefit Frank. And that was enough.

"Okay. But this better be worth missing my study time."

Sorry for such a boring chapter :/ things will start to thicken I promise! Hope you guys have had a great Sunday, and to those like me who have to go to school tomorrow, my thoughts and prayers go out to you. Goodnight, and make this week a good week (:
