The room was silent

The room was silent. There were no words to be said that could lighten the mood. Everybody sat there in disbelief. The lengths these people were willing to go to... Just for power. Seeing Lupa in her fragile state enraged Jason. Lupa protected him when he was young, and now he couldn't protect her. Who knows, maybe he's the reason she's in this situation. That thought shook Jason to his very core.

Jason got up and left. He couldn't sit there any longer, or else his rage would be unleashed. Given that his dad was Zeus, he had quite a bit of a temper. He tried to keep it under control, and he did, but there were select few times where he just couldn't. Like this.

He stormed up the stairs, almost literally. He paced around the deck, winds swirling around him. Electricity sparked from his fingertips, eager to escape. The sky darkened to the grey color of Annabeth's eyes. The more Jason paced, the more infuriated he got. One of Jason's biggest fears in life was not being able to protect those who needed protection. He was so mad at himself for not being able to repay Lupa, even though he would be forever indebted to her. She had done so much for him... She was like his second mom.

"Jason." A voice snapped him back to reality. It was Annabeth, surprisingly. Of all people, Jason would've expected it to be Piper. She was always good at calming him down. Nonetheless, Annabeth checking in on him still meant a lot. She started walking towards him, saw the storm, and kept walking. That's something Jason always admired about her. She didn't let fear control her life.

"I'm sorry. I know how much Lupa means to you. She's like a mother to you. Chiron is the same to me. He practically raised me since I was 8." Annabeth looked down at her feet. She fiddled with her hands, then looked back up at Jason.

"There's nothing more I want to do than go save them both. I'm angry, and terrified at the same time. But, if I've learned anything from Percy being gone, it was that anger gets you nowhere. That drive, that motivation to go save them only gets you so far. We can save them when it's right. When we have a plan to get them back, and keep the Chosen One safe. It's hard, I know. Frustrating. All you can do is wait and prepare." She walked up to the railing and gripped it. She gazed out at the still grey sky, lost in her own thoughts. Jason did as well, pondering what he had just heard. He didn't even consider how Annabeth must be feeling. They were in the same situation, but with completely different reactions.

The winds ceased, the skies lightened, electricity faded. Jason's storm of emotions had finally passed. He looked over at Annabeth.

"Thank you. I needed that." She smiled, and turned to walk away. Before she did, she looked back at him.

"Can I ask you something?" She had her hands at her sides, rapidly tapping away. Her apprehensiveness was easy to spot. Jason nodded.

"If Piper had found someone while we were at college, and she was truly happy, how would you feel?" Annabeth's eyes searched Jason's for an answer. He took a minute to compose his thoughts.
