Piper almost fell off the ship, again. After Castor left, Piper passed out. She was so close to the side of the ship, she would've fallen to her death if it weren't for Percy. His reflexes were inhumanly fast, and as soon as she started to fall he caught her. The last thing she remembered was looking at Jason, his face full of terror as her world darkened. She woke up, gasping for air. Every muscle in her body screamed in pain, ached for relief. As much as it hurt, she knew she had to get out of bed. Piper needed to see Jason, and her friends. She pushed through the agonizing pain and sat upright, taking a break to recover. Why was she so sore? It didn't make sense... Piper made her way to the door and slowly turned the knob, preparing herself to put on her best performance of being perfectly fine. Definitely something she had mastered by this point. She headed to the dining hall, where she was bound to find someone. As she made her way down the hall, voices bounced off of the walls. Joyful laughs, happy tones. Everything she could ever want her friends to feel.
Piper entered the dining hall with a smile. Seeing her friends so content was always rare, and something that should be cherished. Heads turned as she walked in, and all the joyful laughs ceased. Their smiles turned to frowns, bodies tensed and their eyes. Oh, their eyes reflected a look of complete disgust. It couldn't be, right? Just her imagination. They were probably worried about her, that's all.
"Hey guys. What did I miss?" Jason stood up as she said this. He walked towards her, which made her giddy. She could really use a long, long hug from him.
Jason stopped about 10 feet from her, odd enough. He gave her a cold stare, and spat at her feet.
"You're an abomination, you know that right? You were never meant to exist, much less for this long. A hybrid among all of us. Of all people to give this amount of power to, and they chose you? The weakest of the Seven? It's pitiful, really. If we're lucky, maybe you'll accidentally unleash your powers and kill yourself. We'd all be better off." Piper stumbled back. How did he even know she was the Chosen One? She barely even knew... And where did this negativity come from? H-how could he say such hurtful things about her? The love of her life, stabbing her in the back just like that.
"Jason." Annabeth said sternly. She stood up and looked at Jason, analyzing what he had just said. Piper gave her a look like Why was he saying all of this? She glanced at Piper.
"Jason, you're right. She is the least deserving of the power. I've never met a more sorry excuse for a demigod, much less a human. I can't wait to trade you for Chiron. Easiest trade we'll ever have to make, right?" Annabeth gestured around at her friends, and they all nodded.
"We've all agreed to it. You're just not worth fighting for." Annabeth spoke with such a malicious tone, every word pierced through her soul. Piper started to breath heavy. Her friends.... Or so she thought were her friends... All turning against her. Because of something the gods chose for her, not something she did. How could they do this, change the way they feel about her in the blink of an eye?
