Knock

Knock. Knock. Jason shifted his body to face the source of the noise, wiping away the remnants of his tears. He took a long breath and walked to the door, knowing that this had to be important if he was to be bothered from his grieving.

He cracked the door open slightly and was greeted by Frank. You could tell he was uncomfortable and didn't know how to approach this situation. He hopped from one foot to the other out of anxiety. Jason could hear how fast he was breathing, even without his powers. Frank hesitantly looked up at Jason.

"We have a visitor. You'll want to see them, I promise."

He gave Jason his signature I'm uncomfortable and awkward, so I'll just smile through this pain smile. He walked away and headed into the dining hall.

Jason decided he probably needed to socialize and interact with his friends and this visitor, which was very much against his will. He sniffed his shirt and gagged. He really needed to do laundry more often.

He found a decent shirt and changed. Before putting it on, he looked at himself in the mirror. His body used to be toned and muscular, but he lost all of that. You could visibly see his rib cage, even with a shirt on. His stomach had almost concaved in. His arms had lost all of his hard-earned muscle and left lanky noodles at his sides. His face sunk in and left bags under his electric eyes. Oh, his eyes. They had lost their light. Jason felt ashamed to be a son of Jupiter, Zeus if you will. How could this body hold so much power? Hold so much courage or strength? How could he be a hero in this state?

Jason put his shirt on. His stomach growled, but he ignored it. Just like he had for the past few days. He didn't deserve to eat when Piper was alone, in the hands of an enemy. Or when Thalia was...

He left his room and prepared to shut down his friends again. He would say Yes, I'm happy to see this visitor, but I can't. I just... can't.

He turned to corner to the dining hall, all eyes landing on him. He scanned around, looking for the visitor. Once he did, he ditched his sappy speech. He walked over to her and engulfed her in a hug.

"Reyna. Oh my gods, Reyna."

Reyna held his frail body as the two friends enjoyed each other's presence. Jason was on the verge of losing all hope, losing all faith in this quest. But with Reyna here, his partner in combat, a spark of hope filled his heart.

The two sat down and everyone caught Reyna up on what had happened. Her stature tensed when she heard of Piper being taken, and it soon sunk when she was told of Thalia's death.

Reyna looked at her broken friends. It was obvious she was starting to break, and that said a lot coming from her.

"That's why I'm here. I just had this... feeling that I needed to help somehow. And when Lupa and Chiron returned and shared the news, I left immediately. I never would've imagined anything to this extent..." Reyna appeared to be lost in thought.

"And this Chosen One? How has Piper had this much power and not been hunted down until now?"

Annabeth straightened up to answer her question.

"Her powers haven't been unleashed. Well, not that we know of. She won't have her full abilities until it is if she survives unleashing her powers in the first place. If she did, then that could mean a lot of things..." Annabeth trailed off, leaving a burning feeling resonating within Jason's heart. The demigods around him nodded in agreement with her.

"Good things, right? What bad things could come from that?" Jason tentatively asked.

Annabeth's posture became rigid.

"She's been gone for weeks. With our enemy. Who knows what she's been through... Or the state her mind is in. Nobody should have that amount of power in the first place, but in the wrong hands-"

Jason abruptly stood up and sized up Annabeth.

"Wrong hands? How is Piper the 'wrong hands'? She's done everything she can to protect the world, to protect us. That's why she's gone. Not because an enemy took her. But because she sacrificed herself. For us. For the world. And this is what she gets in return. You guys can turn your back on her all you want, but I'll never do that."

He spat out the words and stormed off. Almost literally.

Footsteps could be heard behind him. Jason didn't care. He slammed the door to his room and threw himself on the bed. Just when he thought he had found hope...

"Jason? It's me. Let me in." Reyna pled with him.

Jason used the winds to crack his door open. He sat up on his bed and didn't face at her.

She came and sat beside him. And that was it. They sat in silence for what felt like hours. That was all she needed to do. Be there for him.

Reyna eventually shifted herself to face him. She inhaled deeply before she spoke.

"We're going to find her. And save her. Got it?" She put an arm around him, pulling him into a side hug. He rested his head on her shoulder and nodded. Even if it's just one person—one spark— can start a fire.

There was a knock on his door. Jason got up and opened it to find Percy waiting. He looked like a lot of things: excited, nervous, terrified. Coming from Percy Jackson, that was significant.

"I-I think we're here. We're in Oceania."
