"And we even had Hephaestus himself design the ship!" Lacy giggled. She was leading the Seven around, filling them in on little things regarding the quest."The ship is already done! In fact, I think you'll find it quite familiar." Hazel swallowed, hard. Her, Piper, and Annabeth were walking together behind the boys who were talking like nothing in the world mattered. The girls hadn't said a word after what Will had told them.
Hazel risked a glance at the two to her right. Piper couldn't focus on any point for more than a second, whereas Annabeth was fixated on one point.
Hazel whispered, "I can't take this anymore. It is what it is. We don't even know for sure who it is. So let's not worry about it yet?" Piper cautiously looked up. Annabeth was still focused on the ground. Piper slightly nudged her, causing her to slowly look up.
Annabeth inhaled softly. "I've never heard of one existing before. And if there was, they didn't live long enough to utilize their abilities. Who says that won't happen again?" Silence. Either nobody had an answer, or nobody wanted to answer.
"Here we are!" Lacy piped up. She skipped towards the massive ship towering above them. It was... The Argo II. No... A replica. Almost everything was exactly the same; the placement of the oars, the height, weaponry. The only thing different was the masthead... It was a knockoff of Festus. It shimmered gold, with the basic features of any dragonhead. No ruby eyes. No detailed features around his jawline. Nothing that was really Festus.
"Well, don't be shy! Come on in!" Lacy grabbed Piper and Hazel's wrists and dragged them onboard.
"Below deck is my favorite part!" Lacy skipped three steps, making Piper and Hazel stumble. How was this girl so naturally happy?
As soon as Hazel's low-top yellow converse hit the solid wood floor-boarding, memories rushed back. Running down the hall to get to breakfast because she was late. Having races with Frank to see who could get to their seats first. Being seasick, trapped down here for what felt like eons. The below deck design was so precise, it felt like she had never left the ship. Or that it didn't explode...
Piper must've been thinking the same thing. She drew in a sharp breath, doing a full 360 to see if every aspect was as it used to be. As she turned back around, a smile began to creep on her flawless face. She ran to her old room, gasping.
"It's exactly as I had it before! How did you-" The boys came running behind them, almost plowing Hazel down. They rushed to their rooms, shouting "Yesss!" And "Owww yeah!!"
Annabeth quietly met Hazel at her side. "Feels a lot like the good old days, doesn't it? Except for the fact that there's always someone out there that wants to kill us." She tucked her dry hands into her jeans pocket and walked along, head hung low, into the dining hall. Annabeth didn't care to look at her room.
"Okay guys, let's gather into the dining hall! You can check everything out later tonight once you've left!" Lacy scurried off to the dining hall. Wait... They were leaving tonight? They don't even know much about the quest...
Hazel trudged to the dining hall, retreating to her old seat. She sat next to Leo... Used to, anyway. Lacy awkwardly took his seat.
"Okay, we have a few little details to discuss. First off, the Iris message. I'm guessing you guys don't know much about what a 'Chosen One' is? They are... Very powerful. Very dangerous, if they don't have control over their powers. And if you haven't put it together, it's one of you seven. This person will have a very large burden to hold; being the most powerful demigod known to man and not letting anyone know about it. You see, this chosen person has every power from every god, some more than others. Like their godly parent's power. So, it's near impossible to tell who it is without unleashing their power. But, that power will be unleashed on this quest."
Lacy took a deep breath. "And they will be targeted more than most. It's been leaked that such a demigod exists, and every power-seeking being is after them. Only the lady in the message knows it's one of you. Her name is Esmeralda, and she's a very successful witch. She's been known to lure men seeking fame and glory into deadly traps none have survived. Until we know who the Chosen One is, you each have to have each other's backs. Esmeralda can disguise herself as anyone or anything. Be ready for that. Any questions?" Nobody dared to make eye contact with one another.
Annabeth slowly raised her head. "Is this 'Chosen One' the first of their kind, or...?"
Lacy solemnly shook her head. "The first... Didn't know about his power. He had... Let's say anger issues, and unleashed the power far too soon. All of his power combined and came out, like a bomb, and almost destroyed the entire planet. He didn't survive." Lacy dipped her head. Everyone looked around, trying to see if they could figure out who it was. It was pointless to try, but what else could they do?
Lacy's face lifted as she spoke. "Enough of that depressing stuff. Guess where you get to go to? I'm totally jealous, I've been dying to go there since I was-"
Piper lightly touched Lacy's arm. "Where is it?"
"Well... Oceania!" Everybody looked at her, dumbfounded, except for Annabeth.
"Um... Do you know how dangerous that place is? It's dangerous to mortals living there, much less 7 demigods going in there with a psychotic power hungry witch hunting us!" Annabeth was breathing heavy now. She soon realized everyone was still staring at her, clueless.
"Oceania. Did none of you ever take a geography class? It's Australia and the little islands by it!" A chorus of "Ohh" and "Mhmm"'s filled the hall.
"Since we're still in Long Island, it's going to be a long trip! Either you can cross the Atlantic ocean, which is the short but deadlier way, or fly over the U.S. and over the Pacific! I suggested flying over the Pacific, especially with Percy aboard. Demigods and the Atlantic have some bad blood... But you can decide for yourselves! I'll leave you to it then! Go get packed and ready, the sooner you leave the better!" Lacy breathed out effortlessly.
She walked towards the exit but turned before leaving. "Don't forget, never take your eyes off of each other. Any mistake made by you can and will be taken advantage of. These people after the Chosen One aren't amateurs. They know how to exploit a weakness. Nobody goes or is left alone anywhere, got it?" Everyone nodded, slightly terrified.
"Great! Now, pack some clothes perfect for tanning, because it'll be hot! Ahh, so jealous! Good luck, and uhh don't die!" Lacy bounced off. After a very long period of silence and no movements, Jason finally stood.
"Might as well leave as soon as we can. Every minute we wait is a minute Chiron could be dead."
Happy Valentine's :) Who do you think the Chosen One could be?
Have a good day friends!
