Annabeth had a feeling today was going to be a crappy day. With Piper gone, it's like a hole in everyone's heart's was missing. She was always the one to bring a positive light to any situation, and made sure it reflected onto the people around her. Now, all Annabeth could feel hopelessness and despair for the future.

When Leo and Hazel came back from their errands, it was obvious something had happened. Hazel didn't even look at Annabeth when she said hello. She quickly went downstairs and avoided her friends. It broke Annabeth's heart that even with the known reason behind Piper's absence, the group still couldn't learn to be open with one another.

Frank tried to pry the information out of Leo, but Annabeth knew that was a lost cause. She retreated to her room and decided to try to take a nap. She had stayed up all night trying to piece together a way for Piper to come back unharmed. After hours of relentless effort, she came up with no hopeful solutions.

Annabeth collapsed into her bed and let the exhaustion take over. Little did she know, that would be her biggest mistake.

A jolt coursed through Annabeth's body as she was summoned into a dream realm. She felt at ease when she saw it was her old college. The two rustic buildings were built right across from each other, full of classrooms. Her apartment building was just down the hectic New York street. She stood in the middle of the vast, empty space directly in front of the buildings. It was a clear, sunny day and nobody was outside to enjoy it.

"Annabeth." She whirled around at the sound of her name. There he was, reminding her of why she fell in love with him. He was tall and had an athletic build. His kind green eyes held so much love for the woman standing in front of him. His jet black hair was swept to the left, giving him that laid-back, welcoming look. He approached her and with his tan, muscular arms he wrapped her up in a hug. He lifted her off of the ground and kissed her cheek. Annabeth giggled, reminiscing in this feeling. The feeling of being in love.

"I've missed you so much." He said to her. He set her down and gazed into her eyes. Gods, she could just melt into his arms. And she was tempted to, really.

"I've missed you too, Derrick." She got on her tiptoes and passionately kissed him. His taste was not an uncommon thing to her, yet it felt so foreign. Nevertheless, it was just as good. She began to deepen the kiss, realizing how much she really did miss Derrick.

"W-Wise Girl?" A pained voice said from behind her. Annabeth pulled back, dreading this moment. He couldn't find out this way...

Percy came and pushed Derrick away from her.

"What are you doing?" He sounded like broken record being forced to play. A sound that could only come from her nightmares.

Annabeth took a shallow breath. "Percy, I-I can explain." At this point, Derrick had recovered and stood next to Percy. They both gaped at her, awaiting an answer.
