New York City, New York

Ian:

God, I was such an idiot.

On the roof of the hotel, when we were completely alone and watching the fireworks and totally happy, it felt like the perect time to tell him. And I built up the courage, and I was really going to. And then, of course, at the last second, I chickened out. Of course I did. And now, things were just awkward. He probably knew what I was gonna tell him. I mean, it was pretty obvious. He brought it up on the short, two hour ride to New York City three times, and kept trying to get it out of me. But I refused, telling him it was no big deal. But the truth is, it was a huge deal. He was the love of my life. There's nothing bigger than that. But, in a smelly car on the highway wasn't the right place to do it. I promised myself I would soon, so I would. I just had to find the right place and time.

We'd been to NYC a few times for Smosh meetings and stuff, but never there to just relax and take a vacation.

Jesus, this place was massive. Buildings. Buildings everywhere. And people. There had to be millions of them cramped into one city.

After the longest traffic jam I'd ever been in, we made it to our hotel around noon. We parked in the garage and decided to just leave the car there and take taxis everywhere because there was really no point in even trying to find a parking spot anywhere.

We decided to just chill in the hotel for a while, because we were both exhausted and needed showers. And besides, everything we were interested in doing was at night. New York is a lot cooler after dark

*

And it was.

We left our hotel around seven, getting hungry, and the people count had died down a lot. Also, some buildings were starting to turn their lights on, and it looked amazing.

We walked down the street for a while, not really sure where we were going. We just wanted dinner somewhere. And then, Anthony stopped next to me and pointed at the sign next to him.

"Remember when we ate here for Lunchtime?" he asked, raising his eyebrows.

I nodded. "Oh yeah. We did, didn't we?"

He shrugged. "It was pretty good."

I shrugged also. "Fine with me. I don't really care we eat at this point. I'm fucking hungry."

We walked in and the memories flooded back instantly. The last time we were here, we had a camera in hand, making complete idiots of ourselves and scaring away half the restaurant's population. It was different without it.

We ordered and sat in a booth towards the back.

"Do you... kinda miss making Lunchtime?" I blurted out, almost unintentionally. Like I meant to think it, but it came out my mouth instead.

He shrugged. "I miss a lot of things."

I stared at him, a little disappointed. "Are you... homesick? At all?"

He looked down at the metal table. "Honestly? Yeah."

He looked back up and I guess my expression must have been really sad, because he quickly corrected himself. "I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm still so glad we did this, but, I mean, it happens to everyone. I miss... her, I miss Smosh..."

"I know," I said. And I did. As much fun as I was having, I was a little homesick. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have just planned a three-month trip so last minute. It was a really stupid-"

"No it wasn't," he interrupted me. "Not at all. Ian, I'm not saying I'm regretting this trip even a little. I'm having so much fun. Everyone just feels a little homesick once and a while."

"Yeah. I guess you're right."

"Come on, lighten up," he said, lightly punching my shoulder and smiling a little. "We still have a long way to go. The best hasn't even happened yet."

I smiled too. "I know."

He held up his Mountain Dew bottle and raised his eyebrows. "Cheers to just getting started."

I lifted my Pepsi bottle and smiled. "Cheers," I agreed, clinking my plastic bottle against his. I drank from it, smiling.

And he was right. There was no need to be having these thoughts. We still had a long ways to go.

It had barely even started.

A/N: Wow this part is boring .__. I know I say this every time, but I SWEAR this time, it gets super intense soon :D See ya latah c:
