Part 22: Drama King

Nandini and Abhimanyu were spending some much needed, sibling time together. Since, he was in U.S.A for past 3 years, they got distant, even with the usual Skype chat, calls and messages, because of the 24 hour time difference. They were sitting on the huge swing in their beautiful backyard, sipping on hot chocolate moca, Abhi's favorite. Nandini beats even Starbucks when it comes to chocolate moca. Abhi was sitting with his back resting on the swing, while Nandini had stretched her legs, resting it on Abhi's laps. They were trying to catch up with everything that they had missed out in each other's lives. Abhimanyu was very protective of her since her parent's death. When she was slipping into depression, it was him along with music which helped her revive. There's not a single day when she is not thankful to him. But, he always brushes it off by saying the same thing, "That's what brothers are for." He was everything a girl could ask for in a big brother. He was not one of those, who restricts their sisters and deprive them of their freedom. He always considered Nandini equal. No, in fact superior to him.

They went silent for a while, enjoying the serenity around them.
"Nandini?"

Nandini looked at him, all surprised. It was very rare for him to call her by her full name.

"Yes bhai?"

"No, nothing." She pursed her lips in a tight line seeing him so flustered.

"Spill it Abhi. Something is bugging you, I know. You always call me by my name when it's serious. So, shoot."

A genuine smile tucked on his face, when he realized the fact that she knows him so well even after so many years of distance.

"Baby doll, you got me there. I wanted to talk to you about Manik. But, I didn't want you to feel bad or something."

Nandini got up from her position and went and sat near Abhi. She relaxed her head on his shoulders, gesturing him to continue.

"So, Yes. Umm I don't want to sound like those over protective brothers but, I just wanted to know that.. Manik keeps you happy, right?"

Nandini's heart swelled with happiness. She got too lucky with a brother like him by her side.

"Abhi, first of all, you have all the right in the world to ask me about my life. So, don't say that again,okay? And coming to your question, you don't know Bhai how happy I feel when he is around. He completes me. He actually has succeeded in taking away all my insecurities and fears. He has made me strong. It's not been even a month but, it feels like a lifetime. And you know.."
