Draco's POV
Out of the things she just said to me, one thing stabbed me like a knife: I was just her best friend.

For me, she was more than that, especially after third year, after when that bloody chicken of that oaf tried to kill me, but she saved me and got injured instead. It was obvious that Willow and Evelynn knew about my feelings for her because they'd attempted several times to get us by ourselves or drop some hints to her, which she was always oblivious about. I didn't know if I wanted to be thankful or embarrassed.

It wasn't just her looks that got me. Sure, she easily was the most stunning girl in the entire school, but mostly, it was the fact that she was so generous towards me. In the past, no one had ever treated me the same way Sally treated me.

But I knew that I had no chance, certainly not when she didn't even notice how the guys stole glanced at her whenever they walked past and the fact that I was... Me.

Why would she want anyone like me, who was known as the bully, the one that brags about his wealth, insulted Muggle-borns, was enemies with her cousin and friends who weren't in Slytheirn and a... Death Eater?

But she dated Ambrogio and he's a Death Eater.

She didn't know he was one and when she did find out, they broke up, didn't they?

She obviously hasn't stopped talking to you even though she knows that you're one. She even offered help.

Maybe she was just being generous, knowing her. I bet she's actually hating me inside.

Stop being negative.

Stop being positive.

I shook away the argument inside my head and saw that none of the others were back yet.

Sally was rummaging through her bag and eventually pulled out a book. I was actually surprised that she hadn't read at all during this journey. She settled herself in one of the window seats on the right and I took a seat next to her. This seat was made for two, not three now that I thought about it: we were all squashed earlier.

Not that I'm complaining.

'What're you reading?' I asked.

She looked up and replied, 'Advanced Rune Translation.' Then she added. 'Are you taking Ancient Runes this year?'

I nodded.

She smiled and my heart skipped a beat. 'Cool. We'll be in the same classes then, hopefully.'

'Yeah.' Was all I said. I wished I said something else but she resumed reading.

I chewed on my Drooble's Gum that I bought and thought to do something to distract myself so I just stared out of the window, watching the scenery fly past. But I found myself stealing glances at Sally, who was flying past the pages of the book that made me wonder why she could get everything in her head even with that speed.

After a short while, she suddenly looked up. 'I'm sorry, I'm being rude aren't I?' She laughed weakly.

'No you're fine.' I said quickly, smiling slightly.

Then, I heard the door slide open and they were back.

Pansy and Blaise were the ones who sat across from us. I didn't understand why Pansy sat across from her when she clearly knew herself that she despited Sally. Why Blaise say there, there was one reason: Sally. I heard Willow and Evelynn's voices in the seat behind us.
