After that kiss Seth smiled. "What do you want for breakfast?" He asked. I shrugged. "I usually have toast" I muttered.
"Not pancakes?" He asked raising his eyebrows. I shook my head. I never made them and had no clue how. "Nobody ever taught me and..." I fell silent. I was not bringing up Andrew here.
Seth probably knew what I was going to say and his eyes looked at the door for a second as if he could walk in at any moment. Of course he wouldn't. He was gone for 2 whole days.
"Well I will teach you!" He smiled and reached out to help me of off the couch.
He went to rummage in our kitchen and found all he needed while I sat on the counter (he put me up there) He even cleaned the mess Andrew had left me to clean.
"I never knew you could cook" I said raising my eyebrows.
"There is a lot you don't know about me" He laughed. I nodded yeah that was true. I hardly knew this man and still he made my stomach turn and my skin tingle every time he touched me. I couldn't help but smile when he smiled or laugh when he laughed.
"Well, tell me" I challenged him making him chuckle.
"What do you wanna know?" He asked starting to make batter for the pancakes.
I thought about that for a few seconds... What did I wanna know. "What kind of job do you have?" I asked. This was sort of a mystery. He didn't talk about work. I knew he had one because how else could he pay that house across the street. He wasn't from a wealthy family or something.
My question made him laugh. "Everybody wants to know that." He fed me a piece of strawberry and shrugged. "I am in computers. I did some traveling after school as you know... And I got in touch with some people in that industry. They offered me a job and I took it"
He made it sound all pretty simple but I knew there was more to the story. He tapped my nose gently. "It's a long and boring story sweetheart. Nothing fun. I am in the computer business and it pays well. I have to travel still though. I will leave for a trip in a few days" He seemed sad about that and I felt the same. I didn't want him to leave. "How long?" I asked in a whisper.
"Six weeks" He answered. He held a pan in his hands and looked at me. He looked like he wanted to say something but kept silent. The idea of him being away for six weeks made me want to cry. I know I shouldn't. It was just so nice to have him across the street.
"What?" I asked with a frown.
"No nothing" He replies with a somewhat sad smile. "Come on. I will show you how to flip a pancake" He helps me of the counter and put's me in front of the stove where the pan is on the fire.
He pours in a small amount of batter and comes to stand behind me wrapping one arm around my waist.
My heart starts beating faster again with him being so close to me. he pushes my hair out of the way so he can see the pan over my shoulder.
"Here, wrap your hand around it" He tells me and I do as he says. He wraps his hand around mine and lifts the pan with me.
"Okay. Now look" He shakes the pan a little and suddenly makes a swift movement to flip the pancake. It makes a perfect turn mid air and lands back in the pan.
"See, not that hard" He smiles. I look to the side and see him looking at me. Our faces are only inches apart and I manage to give him a smile too. God he makes me so nervous. I have no idea if I would be able to eat these pancakes.
"What's wrong?" He whispers softly. His arm is still around my waist and his hand still wrapped around mine holding on too the pan.
"You make me nervous" I responded making his smile even brighter. He moves closer and kisses me. His kisses were so soft, gentle and warm. Perfect to be honest.
He lowered his hand to carefully turn me around. I let go of the pan as he kept kissing me and I kissed him back. I couldn't do anything else.
Not to much later the smell of burned pancakes reached our noses and He let go of me. "You distract me" He muttered kissing my nose and turning back to the stove to make some non burned pancakes.
15 minutes later we sat on the couch. His pancakes were amazing And the fruit he added finished it of perfectly. When I was done I put my plate on the coffee table and sighed.
"What is wrong?" he asked.
I looked at him "Isn't it obvious?" I asked sadly. He slowly nodded the guilt showing in his eyes. "I'm sorry" He whispered.
"No... I am. It's my fault" I muttered. "No it's not" He told me getting up.
"I will go. You need me to help with the kitchen?" I shook my head. "No, I will do it."
It felt horrible he had to go. It almost felt like he would leave forever and this would be our last moment together.
At the door his hand lingered over the doorknob. "Emily?" He said looking at me. I tilted my head a little. I had no idea what he wanted to say. He sighed and put his hand on the doorknob again. He turned from me to leave.
The next thing I know he curses, turns around and presses his lips hard on mine in an urging and longing kiss. I couldn't do anything but respond.
