Lily's POV:

"Hey, Lily!" I was greeted in the morning. I was still drowsy from last night. I helped them clean up and then had to go take off the makeup and dress. It didn't help the amount of firewhiskey I drank last night.

"Hey," I said dizzily, almost face planting in my platter of eggs. "Whoa," I heard someone that sounded vaguely like Adelaide. "Lily!" Alice said, shaking me awake. "Hmm?" I said woozily, "Mum, it's too early..lemme go back to sleep.."

Everybody laughed. "No, it's not your mum," I heard James say. I bolted upright at the sound of his voice. Everyone looked at me curiously. "Anyway," started Teresa, "I'd like to introduce you to our new friend. This is Verra." I looked over to see a petite, but mature girl with bouncy blond curls. She had fair porcelain skin, and wide blue eyes. I could see Peter looking interested in her, smiling. She looked over to Peter and beamed.

"So where are you from, Verra?" I asked politely. She tilted her tiny head and spoke in a tinkling little voice, like a fairy, "My mother and father were from the Netherlands, but we moved here awhile ago. Mother made me try for Beauxbatons but I couldn't speak French very well, and I didn't fit in. Professor Dumbdoor, is it? Well, he offered me a place here, and I couldn't help but accept. He is a gracious man."

Verra had hints of a Dutch accent, so I assumed she spoke Dutch.

"It's Professor Dumbledore," Marlene said irritably. She looked very annoyed with Verra. Verra looked at Marlene and said with a smile, "My apologies, Marlene Dorina Magdalene Avignon McKinnon." (i just made up random middle names)

Marlene did not look amused. Sirius could hardly keep from bursting from laughter.

"My, er-sorting, is it? It's going to be later on, but I'd like to stay here for now. It seems very nice," Verra finished. I smiled at her politely but turned to talk to Alice. I could see Verra and Peter Pettigrew striking up a conversation.

Out of my peripheral vision, I could see Sirius leaning over to talk to her, then Remus, and no, no, no-James. Why was I worrying about that? He wasn't even mine. It seemed like all the Marauders were clamoring to get a chance to meet her.

I snickered as if indifferent, then leaned over to Teresa who looked tired and whispered, "I ship the Marauders with Verra now." Teresa laughed then turned to me, her eyes wide. "Do I look tired?" she inquired. "A bit," I stated, digging a mirror out of my bag and handing it to her. "Oh no," Teresa gasped, whipping out some makeup items and tilting the mirror towards her. She brushed under her eyes where bags where and around her eyes where it was tinted purple. Her face was pale and blotchy, so she dusted it a bit and it looked more normal. Her usual red lipstick was there still, as she beamed at me with perfectly straight teeth. I nodded approvingly.

"Why do you need to look perfect today?" I asked, finishing up my eggs. Adelaide turned to me, eyes wide and said disbelieving with a mouthful of food, "Oo don' know? Haff oo seen the ew DADA teacher?"

I shook my head and looked to the place where the teachers sat. A new teacher sat between Professor Flitwick and Professor Sprout. I gave a tiny gasp as he turned his face towards the Gryffindor table. He was undoubtedly handsome, almost too perfect, but I didn't feel that any sort of attraction to him.

He had dark, a little shaggy (like Sirius) hair with chocolate eyes and mocha skin. He was well-groomed wearing a set of robes that were black and gold. The professor didn't look very old, maybe a little older than us, around 19 or 20. I saw many of the girls whisper around me and eyeing the new professor.
