Lily's POV:

I stopped by the Hospital Wing after the little 'chat' with James. A number of people were in there, including Sirius, who had suffered a terrible burn to the leg with some magic fire. Peter had gotten a giant watermelon to the head, but it wasn't that bad. Madam Pomfrey fixed Peter's head with a flick of her wand and added some paste, before bandaging it up.

Sirius was sitting on a hospital bed, wincing in pain as his burn hissed and steamed, holding his leg tightly. The smell was terrible as I got closer. It was the smell of burned hair, festering flesh, and toxins. I withdrew, biting my nails anxiously as I peered closer at it.

It was disgusting but I had to help Sirius. Magic did nothing. It was a burn of something very painful and toxic.

A couple Slytherins that had helped us were injured, broken bones and some terrible curses.

Some of the Hufflepuffs were running around determinedly, despite that quite a number of them were bandaged and limping.

Quite a few of the Ravenclaw were desperately rummaging through the cabinets with their wands out, healing many of the ones that Madam Pomfrey weren't tending to at the moment, and every so often casting shield charms to protect the door. And also murmuring amongst themselves and casting numbing spells after they had healed most of the patients.

I summoned my bag. "Accio bag!"

My bag flew to my hand after bopping and knocking over several poor patients, tumbling to the floor but not before a couple Hufflepuffs caught them and levitated them back up.

I reached in and pulled out a tiny jar, half the size of my palm, and opened it up, the smell of jasmine, fresh rain, and some herbs and mint wafted from the jar. Sirius breathed in, right beside me, and sighed a little wistfully.

I turned towards him a bit.

"Sirius, this is my only jar of healing balm, and it's extremely rare. Not just any Healer can obtain this. But just, be still, would you?"

He was in too much pain to make some witty remark or retort, so he just nodded silently. He lifted up his pant leg and I gasped.

It was a festering, burned red, looking like it was on fire. The edges were singed black, crumbling to pieces. Parts of it were brown, peeling off but not quite, making me wince. The smell was awful, and it looked terrible. The wound hissed every so often, and I could see the pain coming back in waves.

I raised the jar up to Sirius' nose, where he sniffed it hesitantly, and I could see some relief, like the smell was making him not quite focused, so the pain wouldn't be as bad. I dabbed my finger into the jar gently and applied it to the wound. The wound let go a large hiss, like there was some heat in it and it was being released. Sirius tensed, and then relaxed, as the wound steamed off, like an angry whisper that was let loose, and then faded away.

The burned parts crumbled off, and the red burned part was just left. I applied a bit more of the salve then closed the jar and wrapped a bandage around Sirius' leg, as he whispered a thank you to me. I smiled and grasped his hand. His eyes closed as I murmured a spell to make him sleep off the pain and sighed. He slumped back and I smiled at the sight of Sirius sleeping soundly. I gently set the jar on the table next to him and scribbled a quick note to him.

You need it more than I do.

With love,

Lily

After a helpful little 3rd year Hufflepuff fetched me a small glass of water, I sat down, exhausted after helping Paris Chen and another Gryffindor heal this little 2nd year boy, who was in terrible shape. He was pummeled with spells and curses of every kind, including the illegal ones, and even beat up. We managed to get him looking decent enough, before knocking him out cold with a spell.

I finally trailed over to Teresa, a pain blooming in my heart as I gazed upon her.

Her eyes were glassy and cold, her irises, normally a crystal ocean blue, were now hollow but very deep at the same time. They were haunting and piercing, almost accusing. I felt terrible that I couldn't do anything.

Paris walked over next to me, pulling up 2 chairs. I sat down, grateful and saw Paris looking at her sadly, gripping her hand.

"You know Teresa?" I asked, surprised. Paris looked up, startled, but smiled a bit though I could see the tears forming at the edge of her eyes.

"Yes, I knew Teresa. Who wouldn't?" she gave a shaky laugh.

She gave a deep sigh before continuing.

"She and I, used to be best of friends. We used to do everything together. That was before 5th year. I knew she was keeping something from me. I mean, even as a kid, she was amazing at lying. And I knew something was up. Like it wasn't completely genuine. That magic was part of her lying and words, the reason why she could twist someone's mind into believing something else. Whenever someone was onto her, Teresa would say she would deal with it and say she talked to them, and then they'd act like they totally believed her and nothing had happened. Late night trips out with someone, talking to someone in the dorms by herself. Even looking at some pictures that she would hastily stuff into her drawers after I walked in on her. And then, during 5th year, I figured everything out."

I glanced up at her, intrigued. She shook her head.

"I pieced together the information. It was, admittedly, rather not too easy. She was very persuading, using magic to cover things up, hiding things, and not telling anybody. And I did research. And I told nobody. Just trips to the library, reading up on books. And I finally understood everything; why and how and what had happened."

She took a shaky breath and continued.

"Teresa.. she's not exactly normal. She's had her fair share of beauty and talent, but also pain. Deep, deep pain, Lily. More than you could ever see on the outside of her. Lily..." she trailed off, looking heartbroken.

"What?" I asked in a hushed whisper, frightened but also demanding to know it.

"Teresa? She's not really human. She's.." Paris closed her eyes.

The words were faint on her lips.

"A vampire."
