disclaimer: ROWLING: "EVERYTHING IS MINE AHAHAH"
Lily's POV:
"What?" I gasped, looking at the huge crowd. The Head's common room had been decorated with balloons and streamers, boxes of Dr. Filibuster's Fireworks in the corners. Music was playing and it looked like nearly the entire year had been invited.
"I thought you said it was only a Truth or Dare!" I said, astounded. James shrugged and said, "Oops." I rolled my eyes and moved through the crowd, looking for Sirius. James grabbed my wrist and said, "Whoa there. Where are you going?" I brushed him off and said, "Looking for Sirius to smack him." He chuckled and said, "I'll go get some butterbeer and firewhiskey."
I nodded to him and searched for him. I finally found him when I heard a loud person whooping and hollering. Yep, that was him. I found him and tugged on his sleeve. "Lily, are you finally attracted by my amazing hair? I wouldn't be surprised. But I always thought you were James' type. Sorry, Lily-poo, I'm already taken." He kept rambling and I slapped him across the face, making him spit a mouthful of firewhiskey on some poor girl's hair.
I glared at him and screamed, "YOU MONGREL, YOU SAID TRUTH AND DARE AND INSTEAD YOU PUT ON A PARTY IN OUR HEAD COMMON ROOM?!" Sirius suddenly looked very guilty.
"Sorry, Lily! But count it as our coming-back party!" he whooped over the loud music. I rolled my eyes, then huffed, "Fine!" I stalked angrily back to James who was holding 2 glasses of firewhiskey. I grabbed my glass, downed it all in one gulp, tossed the glass away, and heard it crunch underneath someone's high heels. I grabbed James' too, and gulped it down. James raised his eyebrows questionably. "Black," I said. His expression became angry but he smiled and said, "Let's just be happy tonight." I scoffed but laughed when he pulled a funny face to get me to smile.
"You look gorgeous, Lily," he remarked, smiling. I laughed and said, "Seems like you can get dressed up too." The music suddenly turned from fast and upbeat to slow and swoon-worthy. I rolled my eyes and James said, "Can I have this dance?" I turned my nose up and said in a fake-pompous, stuck-up voice, "I suppose."
We both laughed. He clasped one of my hands and the other on my waist, while I put the other hand close to his shoulder. We didn't really dance, just swayed but it was fun nonetheless. After awhile, the music turned back faster, so we let go of each other and just moved to the music.
After awhile, James left for a minute to go talk to Remus and Peter, and I went to search out Adelaide. Apparently she had danced with Peter for 5 minutes, then went to search for food instead.
As soon as she had gotten a small platter of hors d'oeuvres, she had spun around and found at least 3 different guys clamoring to dance with her. When I found her, she was dancing with Quentin Heaths, a rather nice-looking guy with a midnight-blue suit. I saw Finn Sterling glance jealously at her with a small frown on his face. He was dancing with Coraline Teller, a vivacious girl with dark hair and wide eyes. Adelaide giggled, pecked Quentin on the cheek and ran over to me, her heels making a clacking sound each time.
"Lils!" she embraced me, beaming. "Adelaide!" I hugged her and breathed in her vanilla fragrance. "How are you?" she giggled, adjusting her hair. "Good," I smiled. A guy walked up and tapped her on her arm.
"Sorry, Lils, really! But I'll tell you the rest later!" she called as she walked away.
So that was what Sirius mean when he said he was taken.
I was about to go find Alice, who was probably with Frank, when I heard a quiet voice whisper, "Lily." I jerked in surprise and whirled around to find Sev standing there. I folded my arms and glared at him. "What do you want?" I hissed. He stepped back, recoiling from the hate and disgust in my voice.
