James POV

Verra was really nice, actually, so I honestly didn't get why Marlene was so cold towards Verra. She was quite pretty really, not as gorgeous as Lily of course, but delicate and made you feel like you were superior. (i think nearly all guys like this)

I couldn't stand that bastard of a teacher. Professor Brie, was it? Right. He got on all my nerves, that bloody twat. And he was flirting with Lily! A teacher, for Merlin's sake! I suppose he was only a year older than us, and Lily dated that 6th year when we were all in 5th year, but..

Urgh. How could I found out if Lily had any affection or feelings towards me?

A grin spread over my face as I figured out a plan sitting on my four-poster bed. Remus raised an eyebrow, peeking over the top of his book, a book called, "Oliver Twist," whatever that was.

Sirius was out, probably nicking foods from the kitchens. Peter was with him, probably slowing them down because he wanted to get a lot more food than planned.

"What outrageous idea did you get now?" Remus asked mischievously, grinning. I looked up to the ceiling, which was one color, unlike my changing room. I looked at Remus and asked, "Do you know where Verra is?" Remus raised an eyebrow, then said, "Oh. Off to make your relationship with Lily worse?" I smacked him with my book and walked out of the room.

I tried going up the stairs but as I was about to just yell for Verra, someone tapped me on the shoulder. I whirled around to see Lily looking up at me expectantly. I momentarily lost the ability to speak.

"Potter," she nodded her head, "I'm here to visit Marlene. Did you want anything?"

"Oh, er-" I stammered, "d'you know where Verra is?" Lily looked surprised. Was that a good thing? She smiled at me, making me feel dizzy, and said lightly, "I'll go get her for you." I waited for a couple minutes as I heard some scuffles and rushed whispers. I ran a hand through my hair and the door opened when Lily came out first, with Verra behind her.

Lily was changed from her uniform into a pair of black skinny jeans and a white bell-sleeved blouse that extended past her wrists. She had on a silver bird necklace that I vaguely remember studying when we were dancing. She had on a pair of brown ankle boots and her hair half-up and half-down. She shot me a small smile and sang, "Have fun, Verra!"

Verra giggled slightly and beamed at me. She was wearing a sky blue skater dress and white flats, her hair up in a braided bun and her wrists covered in symbols I didn't know. One that looked particularly familiar was a giant circle with inside a triangle with a straight line inside it. It looked like the 3 Hallows, only reversed. I shook my hand and looked down at her. Lily was quite small, reaching the tip of my shoulders, but Verra only reached up to my armpit.

I gave her a small smile and said, "Er- would you like to talk a walk with me tomorrow on the grounds?" Verra smiled graciously at me and gave a small gasp but laughed quickly. "I'm very sorry, James Pooter (that was how it sounded like when she said it). You are a charming boy, but I'm already going on a date with Peter." I laughed it off, steaming a bit when she said "James Pooter". Since when did Potter sound like Pooter?!

"Oh, er-alright, then," I smiled. I walked out of the common room and headed up to the Head's Room. I gave the password and entered to see Lily on the floor of the common room in front of the fire folding something.

"Hey, how was it?" she greeted me absentmindedly. I noticed that the note I had flicked to her during breakfast yesterday was stuffed inside her pocket.
