James' POV:

The entire Great Hall exploded. Students leaped up and started shrieking and running around for their lives. The teachers stood up and poured into the mayhem, aiming for what I saw was a group of Slytherins. The Slytherins separated, firing into the crowd.

I looked over at my friends.

Remus was firing with his wand also, aiming deliberately at the Slytherins. Peter was standing determinately on top of the Gryffindor table, chucking chicken pot pies at the Slytherins. He hit one in the face, causing the Slytherin to stumble back and topple 3 more over. Sirius turned into a dog when no one was watching and was plowing through Slytherins, knocking them over, stealing their wands, yanking their pants down, and biting their bums.

Lily had whipped her wand out, but some Slytherin had disarmed her. She was fiercely fighting, slamming the Slytherin in the gut, punching the side of his mouth. I felt a pride for her. Teresa had been sent up to the Hospital Wing, where I heard it was barricaded with some teachers. Alice was battling with her hand, Frank at her side, glancing at her anxiously. She disarmed one, stunned another while Frank tripped one and jinxed another Slytherin.

It seemed as though the entire Slytherin house had joined in. Some Slytherins fought with us, but most were spread out, attacking us. Gryffindor was in the front, battling, while the Hufflepuff were racing around, providing supplies and help while knocking out others. Ravenclaw was desperately healing while jinxing and stunning most of them, due to their extensive knowledge.

Paris Chen, a Ravenclaw, was next to me, battling fiercely. A tall though good-looking Slytherin disarmed her. She let her wand be taken, picked up her bag, and slammed it into the Slytherin. She smirked once then ran off into the crowd to help her fellow Ravenclaws.

I saw Adelaide flip over a Slytherin. She ran up next to me.

"Took karate as a kid," she grinned, breathless. "Kick some ass," I said, laughing. She smiled but her eyes focused on something behind me. "Duck!" she commanded in a strong voice. I obeyed and she swept her foot over me, kicking something back. I heard a grunt, a sound like something had crashed into the wall, and a large groan.

"Nice, Eastwood," I commented. She laughed right before somebody, who I recognized as Leonardo Tents, an even more cocky and awful Gryffindor, whispered in her ear. Honestly, he was an embarrassment to Gryffindor.

He spun her around and smiled. "So," he purred, "want to date me?" She smiled sweetly, and leaned in. She whispered, "Sure, darling. Right after I do this." He looked positively thrilled..until Adelaide thrust her knee up and he collapsed, groaning in pain. She cackled and threw a pie in his face for good measure before running off and helping Lily.

Verra came rushing into the Great Hall, looking flushed and panicked.

"What has happened, Pozzer? I go avay for only vun second to poot my books up zere, and zis is vat happenz?"

"Er-" I started.

She sighed, pressing 2 fingers to her delicate temple. Her blond hair swished back and she pressed her lips tightly together.

"What are you doing?" I asked, deciding to go like Peter and Sirius and throwing food into the crowd. "Magic," she said hushedly. I remembered how Veronica and Paris were talking about how scary Verra was when she did magic. We all did magic. How could hers be scary?
