Guess who's back!?
~~Millicent~
I woke up to Donovan sitting up and talking to someone on the phone.
"Why? Why do we have to?" he asked.
I poked him in his bare side and gave him a smile that he returned weakly.
"I gotta go. Yeah, bye." He hung up his phone and tossed it on his nightstand.
"Who was that?" I asked. He had a mixture of sadness and anger painted on his face.
"My dad," he mumbled.
"D, what's wrong?"
"It's, uh, nothing."
"Okay." I didn't believe him, but I left it alone anyways. I scooted even closer to him and hugged him. Donovan wrapped his arms around me and hugged me tighter than normal. Like something was going to happen.
After we pulled away, we got up and went to get breakfast. I put on his slippers and raced him down the stairs.
"Pancakes?" I asked. He nodded and gave me a brief smile. I walked into the kitchen and he stood in the living room, tapping on his phone.
"Donovan, I meant help me make pancakes. Not stand around like an idiot." He put is hands in his pajama pockets and walked into the kitchen slowly.
"What first?" he asked in a melancholy tone. I put my arms around his neck.
"Well first, we crack a couple eggs, throw in some milk, and tell your girlfriend what's wrong with you."
"It's nothing, Milly."
"It doesn't seem like nothing."
"Millicent, I'm fine. The real question shouldn't be if I'm okay, but if you can make pancakes."
"And the real answer is no." We laughed and I remembered about his birthday. "Oh my god, Don, I almost forgot. Follow me."
"Follow you where?"
"You're all alone in your house with your gorgeous girlfriend and you're questioning her on taking you to an unknown place?"
"Good point." I smiled and grabbed him by his wrist before I dragged him upstairs. We reached the guest bedroom and stopped.
"I forgot to give you your gift last night," I said. I opened the door and sitting on the bed were his presents. He walked into the room and picked one up. A picture frame.
"Milly, you took a picture of this?" he asked with a smile. The picture was of the black rose petals in the shape of a music note that he made for me the first time he told me that he loved me.
"It's been my screensaver on my phone since that day," I answered. He smiled even wider and picked up the second gift with a laugh.
"Condoms?" he asked.
"100 condoms, to be exact."
