I really couldn't sleep, tossing and turning and at times I could have sworn that I heard Amanda screaming. Finally, I just gave up and decided to go check on her. Opening the door a crack, I looked in. Her bedside lamp was turned on and she had my red guitar in her hands. Given, I never let anyone touch my guitars, but she seemed at peace. Playing that instrument showed me a different side of her, like hiding behind the music was her saviour and I was worried of how badly that fall had damaged her completely. "Manda?"
"Yeah?" She asked softly, her eyes barely moving from the paper as she wrote a few cords down.
"What are you working on?"
"Song." She said quickly. "Sorry, just found this laying under the bed."
"It's fine, I don't mind if you use it." I went to sit by her on the bed, glad that she didn't shy away from me or try to run.
"Can I ask you something?" She asked as she laid her notebook down and gently put the guitar back in the case I had it in before.
"Sure, what's that?"
"My parents never called did they?"
I was pretty sure that I should have told her they showed, but I wasn't going to do that. She didn't need the extra stress knowing that her neice had been there, even though I found a way to get her kicked out. Plus, her sisters had been the ones who were listed as the closest kin. "I think once, but I didn't get your phone in time and it was restricted."
"Oh.." She said absently. "I wonder why they didn't try to call more. I mean, I know I was only in the hospital for about two weeks, but.."
"Wait, what?"
"What?"
"How long did you say you were in the hospital?"
"Two weeks." She said, looking as if she was positive of the time span. "I fell and was just unconcious for a night or two."
"No...you were in there for about two and a half months. We had called Becca and umm...the silent one.."
"Kayla?"
"Yeah, her. But, it's no shock you don't remember the first two months you were in the hospital, doc said you wouldn't."
"No, I wasn't in there that long. We've only been together for about two months."
"Four...two of which you were unconcious but still."
She stood up quickly. I could tell that honesty was not the key right now, she was going to be pissed for the blutness. "Wrong, you were with that Mary chick up until about a year ago and then we got together two months ago."
I sighed and tried to figure out the best way I could say what I needed to. "No, Manda, she....she died three years ago."
"Sorry..." We sat in silence for almost twenty minutes.
"You know, you shouldn't be worried about the perfect one." I said without thought.
"What?" She questioned.
"You shouldn't be worried about her. You're so much prettier than her."
"So now you're checking her out? What did you do? Go on my facebook and look for the absolute prettiest girl you could find?" Okay, that escalated mighty quick and I really hoped none of the guys were going to wake up. Or the demon sisters, they scared the shit out of me when they found out we didn't call for almost a day after the fall.
"No, if that was the case, I wouldn't have had to be on facebook!"
"Bull shit!" She screamed before running out of the apartment.
"Amanda! Wait, let me attempt this whole conversation again."
"No, and you know, maybe you should realize I'm not the fucking doll you thought I was!"
"Where are you going?"
"Home!" She screamed.
I couldn't move for a moment. She had to have been loopy and took one too many of her painkillers or something. "Where is she going?" Becca's voice called from behind me.
"Umm.....just to Handy's real quick for uh...iced tea?" I tried to sound convincing.
"Uh-huh, and you're not with her why?"
"Was grabbing my bike." I said quickly before going to jump onto the motorcycle.
"She doesn't need to see you in the hospital..again!" Kayla yelled. Oh god, the silent one was speaking. I'm dead, defiantly dead. Shit, shit, shit. In almost three months she never spoke, well, except to threaten my life because I waited a day before calling them.
"I won't be. I'm just going to get her."
"No, she doesn't think she's home. When she sees us, she'll think she's home." Becca told me, and I'd have to be completely honest to say that the only reason I didn't take off was because Drayven took my keys.
"No, you might say you'll be safe but I don't trust you."
I growled under my breath and watched as Kayla and Becca ran off to find Amanda. "Why did you do that? I need to find her."
"No, you need to go sleep before she runs off more. What the hell happened?" Lucky for me, it didn't take long to explain to Davey what had happened. "You're an idiot! Don't you think it would have been better to just tell her the truth?"
"She didn't want the perfect one at her graduation how do you think she'd feel to know that she was around while she was unconcious?"
"So you lie and act like you hacked into her facebook.."
"No, Dray, I searched her facebook....and she gave me the password before."
"You're an idiot. Let's go to bed and wait for them to come back from the beach." Needlz said calmly.
"What?"
"Wow...so you don't know your girl?"
"Asshole." I shot.
"No, she's just always there. Sometimes with the horses." Sighing, I nodded slowly and went back into Davey's apartment.
