Behind Rhett was a dark haired man leaning on the dirty brick wall. He chuckled when the tall blond turned around and their eyes met. Rhett tried to start walking again, but his feet seemed glued in place. The dark haired man, who seemed to be his age, walked closer. His bangs threw a shadow over his face, covering his eyes. He was wearing a black hat, suit and shiny dressing shoes.

" What are you doing in an alley like this, this late at night? " He asked, smirking.

Rhett studied the man in front of him. He was a little shorter than him, but still pretty tall. He was wearing a dark blue and black suit, a hat that pushed his hair down, covering his eyes and black leather gloves.

" Are you going to answer me or not? " The dark haired asked again.

Rhett snapped out of his studying of the man.

" I... uh, I'm just going home from work. " Rhett mumbled.

" This late at night? How old are you? "

" Uh, 19. "

" Where do you work? "

" The Duck. The restaurant of 21st street. "

" What do you do at The Duck? "

" Dishwasher. "

The dark haired man smirked even bigger.

" That job sounds like a nightmare. Did you just finish your day? "

" Yeah..."

The dark haired man kept smirking.

" You look cold, let me offer you a cup of tea or something. "

Rhett nodded. He was off work the next day, so if he missed some sleep tonight he could just sleep the day away tomorrow. He followed the dark haired man deeper into the alley. The dark haired man lifted his hat up, uncovering his icy blue eyes. Rhett recognized the man and stopped for a second.

" Neal? " He asked.

The dark haired man kept smirking but quickly hushed Rhett down.

" Shh, no one can hear that. Just follow me. " He said and took his keys out, softly spinning them around his finger.

Rhett started feeling a little nervous as they left the dark alley, walking into an old, dark apartment house. The walls had large cracks in them and everything had an old smell to it. Neal started walking up the stairs and Rhett was quick to follow, he didn't like the way the hallways made him feel. Neal stopped outside of a door and unlocked it. He walked inside and Rhett followed him. The apartment wasn't very big, the hallway they stepped into was painted a dark green and didn't have much furniture, but the dark color made the room seem very small. Neal took of his black blazer, revealing a white shirt and suspenders.

" Come on in. " He smiled and walked into the kitchen.

Rhett sat down at the table as Neal put a pot of water on the stove, took of his hat and ran his fingers through his hair.

" McLaughlin was it, right? " He said and took out some cups from a cabin.

Rhett nodded, by this time he'd realized where from he recognized Neal. They went to the same high school. And three days before graduation Neal was arrested, at school. For what he did not know.

" Yeah, Rhett. Rhett McLaughlin. "

" You remember me? " Neal asked.

Rhett nodded and Neal sighed and sat down at the table.

" It's Link by the way. Link Neal. "
