The Leading Heart

If only the heart could stop
And still there's life
For it beats its' own rhythm
And dances to its' own tune

If only it were possible
For the beats to be controlled
The rhythm to have countermeasures to produce only things within our control

Stop for moments of weakness
Where it seeks what it desires
Not realizing the consequences
Of un-quenched reciprocation, left to beat alone

If only the heart could stop
Following its' own lead and
Work in unison with its'
Hierarchy, the mastermind behind it all
The brain our steering
The preventative measure

If only it could follow...
Maybe for once let another lead
Heartbreaks will be infrequent
Tears will be held still
Somehow, less grief
