Chapter 8; Meeting Someone New

    I wake up the next morning with Peeta laying beside me. Im glad Peeta doesnt have to work the weekends like other bakery workers do. I turn over to look at him and I realize he is waking up. He smiles when he sees me. "how did you sleep", he says while stretching.

" I slept well" I reply while smiling.

" That's great" he says as he begins to sit up.

   We go into the kitchen to make breakfast together. I know Peeta can cook pretty well with all his experience. I can cook too but not as much as Peeta so he assigned me the job of making the eggs and bacon. He would make cheese buns; my favorite! As Peeta is putting the cheese buns in the oven, his phone, which is next to me, begins ringing. I look at it and tell him " its your brother calling." I put his phone in his flour covered hands and he answers it.

  " Hey Asher", Peeta says
I watch Peeta as his brother, Asher talks to him. His eyes widen and he looks at me. I give him a confused look.

" Okay well congrats" he says and hangs up.

" What happened" I ask him

" My brothers wife just had their baby." He tells me with a smile on his face.

" Aww thats great" I say smiling.

" Yea, he wants us to come visit them today" he tells me

" Of course! We dont have much to do anyway" I say and ask him "are they still in the hospital?"

" No they are at home now and said we can come over around 2 o'clock." Peeta answers.

I glance at the clock and it is 10:00 am. When the cheese buns and the rest of the breakfast was finished cooking, we sat down together and ate our food.

Its one o clock and Peeta and I are getting in the car to visit his brother and the new baby.

   Peetas brother lives almost 45 minutes away so we thought we would start driving now. We also wanted to stop at a store to get something for them. When we get to the store we quickly pick out cloths for a boy and pacifiers and go up to the cash register. Since Peeta has been paying for a lot lately, I rush to the cash register and beat Peeta.

   I look at Peeta " I think its about that time that I paid for something" I tell him and he just smirks.

   " That will be $17.99" cashier says and I swipe my credit card. He hands me the bag with the things we bought and a receipt and we leave the store and get back into the car.

   When we arrive at Peeta's brothers house it looks like Peeta's other brother and his wife are there already.

   We get out of the car. I have been to this house a few times before and it is really nice inside.

   Peeta rings the doorbell and it doesn't take long for Peeta's brother to answer.

   "Heyy Peeta! Hi Katniss!" Asher greats us and tells us to come in.

   " Hi. Congratulations!" I tell him "Peeta and I got you guys a little something for the baby"

   " Oh Thank You!" He says and takes the bag.

   " So where is this new addition" Peeta asks.

   "Come on" Asher leads us in.
  I see Peeta' s other brother, Carson and his wife.

   " Hey" Carson says as Peeta and I walk towards the couch where Asher leads us.

   " Hey Carson" Peeta says

Asher's wife holds a newborn baby in her arms and Peeta stands over the couch to get a closer look.

" Wow he is beautiful" Peeta says as he stares at the baby with blond hair.

" He is. Whats his name," I ask.

" Brandon" Asher's wife, Rosalyn says with a smile. " Do you want to hold him," she asks Peeta and he nods and goes to sit on the couch. She hands him to Peeta and I go to sit next to him.

   Peeta stares at him with big eyes. He is so good with Brandon. I look at how happy he is and smile. He is such a sweet guy.

  " You can hold him too, Katniss if you want," she tells me smiling.

  " I can?" I ask back even though she told me I could.

  " Of course," she replies laughing. She is such a nice person.

  Peeta carefully hands his new nephew to me and I stare at him. He is adorable. He wakes up from his sleep when I'm holding him and I can see he has green eyes.

  " He is really cute," I say and look up and I realize Peeta is staring at me with a happy smirk on his face.

" What," I ask giggling in embarrassment as I see everyone looking my way. Everybody starts laughing. Im so confused.

" Nothing," Peeta says with a grin on his face that makes me laugh again. Thats when the baby starts to cry. I try my best to soothe him but he only quiets down a little.

" He is okay, he is probably just hungry again but you are really great with him," Rosalyn tells me.

" Thanks," I say while carefully passing Brandon back to Rosalyn. When he is in Rosalyn's arms I sit back and Peeta puts his arm around me. He stares at me for a while then gives me a kiss.
