Unable to comprehend everything that just happened, Jett began to cry. These weren't tragic tears, these happened to be the first time she cried out in complete happiness.
Kelsey held onto her sister while Cali held them both in her arms, also completely joyful to see Jett alive and well. They sat in silence for what seemed like countless hours but eventually Jett spoke up. "Newt and Josephine are outside the walls."
Cali furrowed her brow. "Josephine?"
"She's a crank that helped us escape." Jett mumbled.
"What is it with you and cranks?" Cali questioned.
"I'm not sure." Jett pondered. "But I do know that I can't leave them."
"They won't let Newt into the city." Cali sighed. "I don't know what to say."
Jett, whom was ready to start a fight. "We can't leave him, he's one of us!"
"Yes darling but he's also a crank." Cali came to a sudden realization. "Stevenson?"
Jett's face dropped and her heart sped up. "He's gone."
Cali looked down at her hands. "Oh."
Kelsey let go of Jett and let out a faint cry. "He died?"
"He's in a better place now Kelse." Jett tried to promise.
"Then why don't we all just die so we can be in a better place?" Kelsey questioned, causing Cali and Jett to gasp.
"Don't speak like that Kelsey." Cali snapped.
"Sorry." She mumbled.
Sid came to the door, her balding hair coming out even more than the last time Jett saw her. "The guard that came with you said it's time to leave."
"We can't stay?" Jett covered Kelsey's ears.
"He explained that Dallas is overpopulated but once some people go app crank on them, you'll be let in." Sid sighed. "Everyday you are allowed in Dallas but every night, you are on your own kid."
"That's insane." Jett spat, taking a backpack filled with goods that Simon made for them.
"First light tomorrow morning, come back." Sid commanded. "We aren't leaving you and Radar behind."
"Come with us." Jett pleaded. "We have made it on our own for so long, why not again?"
"Because we have running water and electricity and food." Sid named all the things they now had. "None of us have to stay up for countless hours because a damn crank could attack."
Jett stepped back, looking at Kelsey. "I'll be back." She stepped out of the room and walked towards the doorway, Hayden and Radar waited patiently.
"I'm sorry to do this." Hayden muttered.
"Whatever." Jett huffed, walking ahead of everyone.
"Think of the brightside." Radar piped up. "You get to see loverboy."
Jett couldn't help but laugh but it was mixed with a sarcastic scoff. "Shut up."
