"Why did you need help?" Newt asked.
Jett knew he would ask eventually but she shook her head, stalling as much time as possible. "I got to go now, Stevenson called me."
"You can't just do that." Newt interrupted. "You can't say something then shake it off."
"I'll tell you tonight." Jett stood up and wiped her tears away.
"Hey." Newt said before she left. "Thank you."
"For what?" She asked confusedly.
"Not calling me a piece of klunk for crying or stuff like that."
"Oh, your welcome." Jett nodded and took off to find Stevenson.
When she finally came across Stevenson, she found him down at the small stream they collected water from. He didn't have that jolly grin on his face as usual, in fact, it looked like he was turning red. Jett still smiled at him when he noticed her.
"Hello Jett." He said softly, not making eye contact with her.
"Hi Stevenson." She said back. "What's wrong?"
Stevenson sighed and took a seat on a cut down piece of wood and motioned her to sit beside him. "I think you'll want to sit down."
This is when Jett knew something was definitely wrong. She waited for him to say something as she sat down on the piece of wood.
"That crank Radar shot." Stevenson spoke. "Wasn't the only crank in the area."
Jett waited.
"After we made it back to the cabin, Cali and Simon went to do a round quickly, only to find a crank camp not more then twenty kilometers from here." Stevenson's facial expression made his face look almost square.
"What are we going to do?" Jett asked.
"Run, evacuate, get everyone to Denver." Stevenson told her and she gasped.
"Denver?" Jett gaped. "Didn't we just hold a rescue mission to get people out of Denver?"
"I know Jett but we can't fight a group of rampaging cranks with twelve adults and eight teenagers who aren't very equip."
Jett agreed with that.
"Twenty kilometres is about a good two days journey while Cali and Simon took the truck, they shouldn't be more then roughly tomorrow night." Stevenson said. "So tomorrow at noon, we'll fill up the trucks and vans with our supplies and our people."
"Okay."
"And Jett, I'd like you to drive one of the vans."
That was some sort of high title to her. In a time like this, you'd usually see Stevenson, Sid, Cali, Simon or Chris drive a vehicle. Her skin grew hot under the scorching sun so she dipped her feet into the warm water. "If you trust me to do so."
"I do trust you." He confirmed. "But I'd like Radar and Newt to be on board with you."
"I'd like that as well." She found herself saying.
"Now go on." Stevenson nipped at her. "I won't take up too much of your time."
Jett trailed out of the water and smiled at Stevenson, she then wrapped her arms around his torso and hugged him. "Thank you."
Eventually, Jett knew it was time to go back to Newt. He was right about just leaving him hanging like that, she knew that she couldn't do that. Her mind hadn't adjusted to the idea of him being from WICKED, from that horrible, crazed place. When she found him, he was in the same place, only he wasn't feeling better like when she left him, no, his eyes where all red and puffy, he'd been crying again.
