Suddenly I hear her screaming. Over and over and over. I can't open my eyes. I don't want to see what's happening. I shut my eyes tightly. I want to get up. I want to stop Dr. Mason. But something is forcing me to lie there with my eyes closed. I push the sides of my pillow against my ears. Anything to stop the screams. For a while, it seems that Ali will never stop screaming. But finally, her screaming ceases. I can't hear anything so I uncover my ears. Still nothing. I open my eyes and Dr. Mason leaves the room silently. I look over at Ali and am horrified.
Her blond hair is tangled. Bruises cover her body. Blood covers her clothes. Her mouth is opened and so is her eyes and legs. I gasp and start crying uncontrollably. Ali slowly turns her head to the side to look at me. Only it isn't Ali. It's Olivia. My jaw drops and I can barely make out her faint words. "stop him".

I wake up in the morning and Ali's body is missing. I look around and rub my eyes. I check every spot in the room but I still can't find her. Just as I'm about to look under Ali's bed again, Dr. Mason enters the room. He pulls out his needle and smirks at me. "Ready for your injection?"
___________________________I cautiously sit on my bed. I don't want to cause a scene but the anger rises in my voice. "I know what you did," I tell him. He cocks an eyebrow and narrows his eyes. "And what would that be?" He says, but I know it's not a question. He's testing me, daring me to say it. And predictably, I met the challenge. "YOU MURDERED HER!" I scream at him. He whirls around and shuts the door quickly. "I would be very careful if I were you," he says, walking toward me. I tried not to let my fear show through. "Or what?" I say, narrowing my eyes. He takes a step forward. "There will be severe consequences if you can't keep your mouth shut," he hisses. He sticks the needle in my arm violently and with much more force than usual. I whimper and he draws the needle back, turning to leave fhe room. As he walks out of the room he turns back to me. "Remember our conversation," he says, "because I sure would hate for you to go missing."

I hurriedly rush down the hall and bump into a girl with long blonde hair and a white t-shirt with tan shorts. I hope she doesn't like those shorts because she's gonna have to change over to white ones. "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry! I really need to slow down but these halls are so slippery!! So fun!!" she squeals at me. She lends me a hand and pulls me up and I notice a guy behind her. His side-swept chesnut hair covers some of his eye. The girl shakes my hand. "I'm Felinity by the way! But you can call me Fel."
Her enthusiam was very catchy. "I'm Joy." I tell her. "How long have you been here? And why are you here?" I ask her, hoping she won't think I'm nosy. "Oh I just got here last night and so did Brian," she says, pointing to the boy behind her, "and we're here because- oh well I mean I guess I'll just tell you the whole story! Ok so where do I begin? Um ok Brian and I were babysitting my baby brother and ugh he just wouldn't shut up! So we put a pillow over his face and held it there and after a few minutes he stopped crying! I thought that he was asleep but when we found out he was dead, we ran away. The Police found us and yeah here we are!"
She gives a light laugh and pushes herself up on her tip-toes to give Brian a passionate kiss. I stand there awkwardly and after a few seconds I clear my throat. Fel giggles and pushes herself back down. "So where were you guys going?" I asked them. "Oh we were looking for the kitchen so we could grab some breakfast!" She tells me. "No one's allowed in the kitchen actually. We eat breakfast in the dining room." I explain. "Ooooh! Well could you show us the way?" she says, lacing her fingers through Brian's. "Sure. Follow me."
As I walk to the dining room, I can't stop thinking about Dr. Mason. But my new friends took my mind off of him. Felinity and Brian were constantly laughing. Felinity slipped and slid through the halls, giggling. When we arrived at the dining room I looked around, hoping to find Ali, hoping it was just a dream. But no such luck. I sigh and grab some banana and blueberry oatmeal, put some apples on my plate, and got myself a glass of milk. I hear Fel gasp behind me and turn around to see her staring at the choices.
She grabs some bacon and puts a PILE of mango slices on her plate. Brian smiles at me and explains. "She really loves mangos," he tells me. "Ooooh." I say, turning on my heel. This girl is crazy, but I liked her. I grab some bacon and then walk to my table. Dylan is already sitting across from my usual seat. I sit down and smile at him. He smiles back at me and I put a piece of bacon in my mouth. "So I was wondering if you wanted to hang out today?" he asks me.
My heart jumps and skips two beats. "Ya know. Like maybe we could go swimming or go out to the yard or-" He stops his sentence because Brian sits down beside him and Fel sits down beside me. Dylan looks down at his plate and I put my hand on his. He looks up at me and I shake my head yes. Fel notices us. "Oh my gosh!! You guys are the CUTEST couple!!" She yells loud enough for Crazy Carol to look at us.
Heat fills my body and I look down at my plate. "We're not a couple." I say quietly. "Not yet," I hear Dylan whisper. No one else hears him. My body tingles. After breakfast, Dylan walks me to the room. "So, swimming?" he asks me. "Yes. Just let me get changed." I tell him. "Okay," he says, "Meet me at the pool?" he asks. "Sure." I turn into my room and close the door. What if Dylan becomes my boyfriend? I laugh inside my head. A boyfriend at a mental hospital. After I change my clothes, I'm halfway to the pool when I hear a scream.
