Chapter 7

___________________________

.:.Althea's POV.:.

As soon as I finished getting ready, I stared at my appearance, and made a disgusted look in the mirror. This is why I don't have a boyfriend. I turned away, the remnants of my smile fading.

I shut the front door behind me, locked it and began walking down the sidewalk. A car passed me coming from the opposite way. I just kept walking, staring down at my feet, breathing in the crisp Cali air. It felt nice out and I was glad I was walking, not that I had a car to drive around in anyway. I was walking to the city bus stop. That's how I made my way around since I didn't own a car.

"You look nice today." The familiar voice half-whispered in my ear.

"You're kidding right?" I turned on my heel and faced Wesley, giving him a glare.

"No, I'm not, seriously! I like the way you dress." He chuckled, and did that shy smile and turned his head away to hide his blush. Of course I knew he was blushing. He never hid that very well... At all.

"You're not going to follow me around all week, are you?"

"Of course not. I just thought you might need some company since you do live alone."

"I'm not a baby. I can take care of myself." I kept walking, but he stopped.

"Okay, fine, I'll leave you alone then. Sorry." He held his hands up in defense and backed away, headed for his car.

"No wait! I'm sorry. I didn't... I didn't mean that," I squeezed my eyes shut, immediately regretted the words that flew from my mouth, "I don't like being lonely."

"I thought so." That cheeky grin of his reappeared on his lips.

"Wanna wait with me while I wait to catch the bus?" I asked him politely, in hopes he'd say yes.

"No, honestly I don't."

"Oh, ohkay." My smile faded, causing me to become a bit frustrated with this boy.

"But you know, I can give you a ride. it would be so much faster, instead of waiting with a bunch of strangers."

"You jerk. I thought you were really going to leave me this time!" I smacked his bicep, but not that hard, and he just laughed at me. But I guess I deserved it. I was the jerk.

"Come on." He walked me to the passenger side, opened the door and closed it.

"Thanks."

"Where to?" His eyes set intently on me, awaiting my answer.

"I don't know really, I just wanted to get out of my place, you know, get some thinking done."

"I have the perfect place for that."

****

"This is the beach..." I raised a brow, thinking of how this place could possibly be the perfect place for thinking... There are alot of people.

"Shh, just follow me." He intertwined his hand in mine as we continued down the shore toward the boardwalk.

"Oh," I looked down at our hands, strangely enjoying the feeling, "Okay."

"So what made you move down here?"

My eyes felt like they were about to well up with tears, but I held them back in attempt to put up a front. I couldn't let him know that I was weak and vulnerable. That's why I left. Everything was put on me because I was the easy target.
