Corie's Point Of View

"Okay," I said and closed out the window, "I signed up for tutoring and joined an after school program. I applied for work study as well, but I'm thinking of taking that job at the office."

After that stressful night, I realized that I needed to pick myself up and fix everything– no one could do it for me.

"You're in Calum's calculus class," Kacey smiled, "lucky you. He switched too."

I laughed, "because we get along so well," I rolled my eyes.

It was three weeks after Thanksgiving break and I was finally getting my life together. Luke, Calum, and Kacey have been helping me recover despite their own struggles with school. They've been inviting me to go places, eat out—we don't go out to party as often anymore but studying while the boys practiced playing made up for that.

Shawn and I texted occasionally, since we decided to keep our relationship as friends. He doesn't text back that often and we don't keep up long conversations, I was thinking of giving up. I did mention to him about my scholarship once or twice, but he said he can't fly back to visit until he's done touring in a month. It was enough time for me to handle myself financially.

It felt weird. I mean, our friendship felt weird. I get so excited when he texts back, then sad when I realize it's just another dry message. That's my fault, I always tell myself, because I did want this. It's just not what I expected.

There was a slight knock on the door, "anyone in?" I heard Luke's voice.

"Yeah, come in," I sat up from my position and closed my laptop, "what's up?"

Calum and Luke walked in, both taking a seat on Kacey's bed. Kacey was sitting at her computer desk, finalizing the last parts of her essay.

"We haven't been out for awhile so we should do something fun," Luke suggested, "I heard there's skating rink opening up nearby."

"God, I haven't skated in so long," I clenched my head as I thought about the cringy moments, "how about we go bowling?"

Calum and Kacey's neck snapped towards my direction.

"Every time we've went, you win the game," Kacey said, "Every. Time."

"Exactly!" I smiled.

"No," Calum shook his head, "we're going skating."

"I mean we could split and go separately. Two and two, then we could meet up to eat," Luke reconciled.

Although we hang out all the time, we all have different personalities. Kacey was always energetic, positive, and making jokes with everyone. She's the one that's always wanting to try visiting new places or trying something we all haven't done before. On the other hand— I am perfectly fine watching a movie and grabbing coffee after. I've grown accustomed to the lazy life and I wanted it that way. Calum, I'm not sure about him, but he likes anything I don't like to do because it annoys me.

Luke was like our lord and savior. He found balance in our arguments and always found a way to satisfy us. We don't argue all the time. It's just when we do, he stops us.

"We can do skating," I shrugged my shoulders, "it'll be fun."

"Let's go!" Kacey smiled and we all followed her out the door.

"HOLY SHIT!"

I screamed and caught onto the railing before my butt and floor kissed each other.
