Aleks' point of view
My mind flutters open, revealing Eddie staring down at me. Well, so much for getting up earlier than him.
"Morning," I yawn, cuddling back into him.
"Good morning," He giggles, how does he manage to be so peppy in the morning? I sigh, the world may never know.
"Kootra called this morning," He says, how did I sleep through that? "He told me about Rib-Fest, Monica is doing it," He says.
"Cool," I say, too tired to really care.
"You're signed up too," He says, what?
"Since when?" I ask, when did I sign up for that?
"I told Kootra to sign you up, you can cook more than just pancakes and bacon right?" He giggles.
"Yeah," I say, "What time do I have to be there?"
"It starts at 1 Pm,"He says. I check the time, 10 Am.
"Then for 2 more hours I want to lay here," I say, snuggling back into him.
"We need to get the ingredients and such," He giggles, giving me a peck on the lips. I sigh, I guess that will have to get me through the day, hopefully there's more. I reluctantly get out of bed.
"I'm going to take a shower," I say, going to the bathroom. He nods and starts changing. I turn on the shower, letting the cold water rush over me. Once satisfied, I get out, drying my hair and wrapping the towel around my waist. Eddie is in the living room watching Tv. I change, pulling on a semi-clean sweatshirt and jeans and walk out.
"Want to go now?" I ask, he nods and I grab my keys. Haven't cooked ribs in a while, this should be interesting. We go to the supermarket and grab what looks like nice ingredients. Sly gets a few snacks, chips mostly. We drive to the festival, it's always at the fair ground, every year.
"Hey!" Kootra waves us over. We park next to him and pull out our stuff. Monic seems really excited. She has her hair packed in a tight bun.
"Want to share a booth?" Monica asks.
"Sure," I say, considering I didn't have a booth of my own prepared. Thank god for Monica. We carry our stuff to her booth, she got a fairly good spot. Hehe, FAIR-ly. Ok, that was a pretty bad joke, I'm going to forget about that. Monica starts cooking her ribs, me doing the same. I give Eddie the first taste.
"Omg! Aleks this is awesome!" Eddie says, devouring all of it.
"Thanks," I smile, glad it doesn't suck. Kootra does the same for Monica, they look happy. I see people start coming in and cook more ribs. Eddie gives me a pat on the back, taking out chips to munch on. People pool in, giving good feedback to me and Monicas' ribs. Sly steels another one of my ribs, giggling.
"Theft," I chuckle. He giggles more. The time comes for voting. Eddie and Jordan aren't allowed to vote. I give Monica a handshake.
"Goodluck," She smiles. I nod and wait for the announcer to speak. Although Eddie thinks differently, I don't really think I'll place. Sure it'd be cool, but I highly doubt it. The announcer starts talking, catching everyone's' attention.
"3rd place is..." He booms, "John smith!" Some one goes up and takes a ribbon.
"2nd place is..." He starts, "Aleks Vitally!" Eddie pushes me up, giggling. I take the ribbon, slightly smiling.
"1st place is... Kendra Melrose!" He says, handing a trophy to a very happy looking girl.
"Good job Aleks!" Monica says, giving me a high five. I smile and nod, Eddie pulls me into a bear hug.
