Chapter 27 (extra)

Kid's POV

"Shhh, you need to keep quiet, trust me," the girl whispered in my ear.

I nodded and did as I was told. The voice sounded familiar- like Cora's, maybe that's why I obeyed. I knew it wasn't her, but maybe it was someone like her.

The horizontal paneling on my closet door allowed me to see someone in my room. They had black shorts on and also an open black coat. They would look around nervously, pondering what to do. I imagine they were looking for me and this other girl, my hero, was saving me.

The girl finally either came up with something or gave up and left the room in a full sprint. My captor finally let me go maybe five minutes later.

"What's happening?" I asked.

"Nothing, just don't trust her," whoever the girl was, she was hiding her face with a hood from her trench coat. She also spoke in a ridiculously fake low voice.

"I don't know who it was," I explained trying to see whose face was hiding under the black fabric.

"I don't either," she said in her normal voice and dashed out. It sounded so much like Cora I couldn't stand it. I also noticed she was bare footed.

"Hey!" I yelled, causing her to stop as she was opening the front door, not facing me. "Take these," I threw a pair of Cora's sneakers at her. She caught them flawlessly even though she wasn't facing me.

"Thanks," she said cheerfully and put them on. Slamming the door after her, she left.

I slipped into my sneakers and quietly followed to see who my savior was.
