Chapter 35- a few months later

Kayla's POV

Medusa had been growing progressively angrier over the last few months for reason unbeknownst to me. Layla had Medusa put me in the group of witches since technically I am a witch. I feel like the spy of the group and that's what the other members refer to me as. Other witches have joined the illegal activity. So much that's it's to the point where Lady Medusa had to get a larger table. There was now Medusa, who played the major role of the leader, Layla, who took on the task of 'vice-leader' as she usually referred to it. She would take over the leading position whenever Medusa was out. The man, who's referred to simply as Spider, is the warrior. He collects the human souls for power. Tif is the only non-witch of the group but she has studied extensively in black magic. It is her job to carry the key and guard the box of souls with her life. The witches each take a soul everyday at 3am- the 'witching' hour. It's more of a tradition than to gain power, though. Tif was allowed to join because she was Arachnae's (sorry if that's wrong please tell me!) magic keeper. She has been to battle and back and defeated multiple witches with just her black magic. So it's better to have her on our side than risk fighting her later. Her long, blonde hair gives her an innocent look added to the fact that she only looks about 18. Finally, Eureka keeps all members in discrete contact because of her ability to change form. There are others but they are only allowed to help Spider, who thoroughly insists he can handle it himself.

Kid has been happier and more actively social with 'our' group of friends, he is even back to OCDing over symmetry. He hasn't said anything about the fight and I think he questioned his sanity for a little while, but hid it well. I'm not sure if Maka and the others ever really questioned why his happiness returned so quickly, almost like a snap of the neck. I think they're just happy he is, and he is.

I have been instructed to follow him still, and he meets with Cora almost every night. Usually just sitting on her grave. She wears a skulled necklace now, everyday and I can feel the emptiness of it. The rubies in the eyes.

Being part of the group I can see the things normal people don't in the night. Fights being fought, souls being reaped, and Medusa just checking up on her territory, as she refers to it. Her broom skills are immaculate, she usually rides on her toes. I'm not allowed to have a broom but Spider has taken me in lessons behind Medusa's back. He's ok.
