Cora's POV

"Hey Kiddo," I said. I ran up to the black haired boy and wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him into a hug.

"What's up, my girl?" He squeezed back.

I took his hand when the hug broke and and we made our way through Death City, really nothing new. I was tired. I'd been sleeping more and more lately, but I don't know why I'm getting tired.

"You ok?" Kid stopped walking and took a few steps in front of me, facing me. He was wearing a really concerned expression on his features.

"How freaking long is this going to go on?" I whispered, leaning forward and resting my forehead on his chest.

His arms wrapped around my waist and I felt him sigh into my hair. "Yeah I know, I hate it too."

I sighed back almost instantly into his chest. That's not what I wanted to hear. I'm sick of this semi freedom only at night. Inwas really hoping Kid had talked to his father or something, gotten it figured out. I don't think Lord Death is even aware the Kid knows I'm alive.

"Kid," I whispered real quiet, "There's a witch. No wait 2, 3, 4," I counted as they popped up and made their way closer to us.

I felt him tense up and squeez me closer into him, "Can y-you fight?" He asked, quieter than I had whispered earlier.

"I mean, I havent since I- since I died." It had been two months of this sneaking out with Kid bullshit and almost three months of this being locked up crap. I know I must be substantially weaker and who knows what that soul split thing did to my wavelength. "We might not even be compatible anymore, Kid."

I squeezed my arms around his neck one more time and then broke the hug. I saw in his eyes that he was scared and I somehow felt that the witches were here for us, too. I was completely overtaken by the fact that none of them were using soul protect, though. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. We have to fight. I shot into the air for the first time since Medusa's lair.

Kid caught me with a small struggle but we soon evened out the wavelenth between the two of us with only a little bit of quiver. He flipped me upside down and I wasnt even the slightest bit caught off guard.

I was expecting some kind of ambush, but after only a few seconds of being turned around the only witch that showed themself was a young redhead. She seemed quite familiar

"There are more, Kid, I swear," I said in a shaky voice, "Stronger ones."

Kid didnt respond, didn't even move a muscle, flinch, shake, breath! Nothing. The two just stood there and stared at each other, Kids soul waves dropping.

"Kid!" I yelled trying to wake him from this trance. He shook a little and swayed his weight from foot to foot seeming to regain conscousness, if it's possible that he lost it.

what is she doing?
