Chapter 22

Kyla's POV

It's my first day at the DWMA and I think my new professor, Dr. Stein, is a little insane. He told me I had to wait outside the classroom until he had someone come in and get me, so I can make some kind of stupid big entrance.

Anyways, I didn't end up staying with Lord Death and his son, I don't know why. I'm actually staying with other students, Maka and Soul. I have asked Maka several times about why I'm staying with them but she always just gives me a stupid lie, like how Lord Death doesn't have enough space for me. I've walked past the manor many times and I can say with complete certainty, that unless they're housing the whole Shibusen, they have more room for me than Soul and Maka do. I'm really not complaining though, because sleeping on their couch beats sleeping on the cold floor at Ma'am Layla and Lady Medusa's.

"Hey c'mon," Soul said as he opened the door of the classroom.

"This is Kayla Lexington. Do you want to introduce yourself?"

"Uh, sure," I said. "I'm Kayla, obviously, and I'm 16. I'm also a meister and I can use my soul perception and soul contact," I could tell by the looks on their faces they either don't know what soul contact is or are just impressed.

"That's good, Kayla." Stein said and Maka ushered me away to my seat.

I was sitting next to the two girls that showed me around the school a week or so ago. They were sitting next to Kid who was in front of Soul and Maka. He looked really sad, and like he couldn't pay attention. I felt bad and wanted to know why. I still have to collect his soul for Layla.

I am also here to keep a look out for a girl named Cora. I'm not sure why, but Layla said that she looks like Kid. I'm to tell Eureka frog if I see her. I meet with her under the school in the dungeon area at night to tell her what I know. Layla gives her missions for me and I have to complete them if I want to stay at the academy.

Stein just kept talking about random stuff during the class period. After teaching his "lesson", that was just occupied by a long speech about soul safety, he took a sheet off of a cage, revealing a little fox. It looked as if he picked it up on his was into the school because I see those out in the desert all the time.

Cora's POV

Lord Death said I can run around the dungeons at night if I want. He actually said that as long as I wear the trench coat he gave me I can go wherever I want at night. I'm not allowed to talk to anyone I know or let anyone know what's going on. I accepted these 'rules' just so that I can get out this cell. I can go out on my first adventure around Death City tomorrow night and I have to go with Spirit and maybe Stein. I'm happy the teachers trust me so much; I'm pretty sure I was going to die if I had to sit around one more day.

I've been sleeping a lot lately and talking out loud to myself. Not like just saying things, but like actual conversations. I find myself talking about Kid quite a bit. It does make me sad to think about him though. I don't know how he is dealing with this- me dying is what I mean. I hope he isn't taking it too hard because I'd hate if he does something bad, I mean if I hear he does something stupid like suicide I don't know how I'll deal with it. The only reason I try to live in this hellhole of a room is the thought that Kid is going to be happy someday if he isn't already (Which is what I'm hoping is the case).

I stayed up last night because I thought I heard someone walking around down here. I caught a glimpse of her as she crossed the hallway down the street. She has ginger hair and was wearing a leather jacket. I sort of heard her talking to someone, but I couldn't tell what they were talking about. It sounded to be another girl, but I couldn't be sure.

Hey if you haven't heard I will be trying my best to update this ATLEAST every Monday. I do have testing going on and I have to study but I will try my best because I love you!! xD
