I smiled as I watched mom walk across the aisle. Mom could have fooled every guest in here that she was calm with her toothy smile but not me. I know that she's totally nervous and she's taking deep breaths inside right now.
You'd think that this is her first time getting married.
After all, mom almost faint from being too nervous for the wedding. I looked at mom.
Mom look amazing today. She is wearing a short-sleeved lace dress with a low cut on her back which can be seen because she had pinned her hair up.
She could pass for being in her early thirties when she's in her early forties.
Mom finally reached the platform and linked hands with Gary. The minister gestured the guests to settle down.
He cleared his throat and began. "We have gathered today to witness..."
I turned my gaze to Gary, or my stepdad in less than ten minutes. He is looking at mom with love.
Mom told me that Gary is 'The One'. Despite my failed relationship, I still believe her. My thoughts flew to seven months ago, when I was dating Aaron.
It was the best period of my life. You can say that it was like doing your normal routine in your honeymoon.
Minus the acts in the bedroom, if you know what I mean.
And minus the fact that no one else knows about us other than Max because she is my inseparable bestest friend.
Heh bestest isn't even a real word.
When I say no one knows about us, I also mean that no one suspects a thing about us. That's because we kept everything at home. Go over to Aaron's when no one is at home because Aaron's dad is always working so there is no one else at home.
And I'm serious; no dates and definitely no PDA. Not even holding hands in school.
Doesn't that count as PDA?
Now that I think again, our relationship is like a friends with partial benefits or something.
Not that it matters anymore because we are over.
"I do." Gary said.
The minister looked at mom. "Do you, Julie Parrish, accept Gary Hurls as your lawful husband?"
Mom looked at me. I gave her a thumbs up and a supportive nod. Mom smiled at me.
"I do." She smiled at Gary.
"In that case, I now pronounce you as husband and wife. You may kiss the bride." Mom and Gary kissed.
The guests cheered and clapped. Gary and mom held each other's hands while waving to the guests. I wanted to congratulate mom but seeing my relatives nearing the newlyweds, I decided to look for dad. I think I saw him here somewhere.
You guys might think, why is he going to his ex wife's wedding?
The truth is, my parents are ome of those lucky couples who parted in a positive, mutual agreement.
You might think that I'm lying but I'm not. I'm glad they are okay with each other because that way, they won't feel the need to fight for child custody over me since I'm not at legal age yet.
I finally spotted dad among the crowd. "Dad!"
Dad saw me and greeted me in a bear hug. "Hey kid, how are you?"
Dad calls me kid even though I'm his only child.
"I'm good." We pulled away.
"Have you congratulate mom?" Dad asked me.
