JOSHUA'S POV

I

t's a pity that Xenia lives so far away from me, as it's a good two hour run and a decent 3 hour drive to get to her. There has to be a faster way to get to her. They have it so easy being able to walk to school with it being around the corner from her, but for us as a pack to enter into a town life we will not be easily welcome into the community. Fear and worry will fill the hearts of many people, so I guess the run will have to suffice.

All this runs through my mind as my body naturally curves around the woods and darts over and under fallen logs, tracing the scent of my mate. She has such a wonderful scent that I just cannot resist following it all the way to their forest outskirts. I howl for her to join me and she suddenly joins me outside changing into her wolf.

"Hey Mate", she teases me as she licks my cheek with her warm long pink tongue, "I have missed you". I follow her into the woods, as we head back to the pack before driving out to a spot that is too far to run too. I have a few surprises for her. But I am scared she already expects it.

"What's wrong Love?" she asks as I have yet to move a paw after her.

"Nothing", I respond rapidly snapping out of my thoughts, "just catching my breath"

I head after her and soon we arrive at the pack house, entering it to bows by the other pack members. Great more bows I think to myself.

"Sweetie, let's get out of here" I say rapidly pointing to the car as she walks towards my parents.

"Let me first greet everyone", Xenia replies to me in a tone of follow me or be dead. I oblige to her will... for now.

Sometime later...

"Sweetie, where are we heading, it seems so far away?" Xenia asks as the Sun begins to set behind us.

"You'll see soon enough my sweetest" I reply while focusing on the road ahead. "It is a place that I used to come too when I wanted to be alone. Back then I had to run this side, and it would take me ages to reach this end of the forest" I continue.

"Please wake me, when we get there," she responds while yawning, turning into her wolf, hopping to the back seat and soon is fast asleep.

"Sleep well," I say to her as I return to the driving ahead, accompanied by my thoughts of her and tonight.

"We nearly there Love," I say waking her up gently with my voice echoing against the sound of the dark road that the tyres are gripping too.

"How long was I out for?" she asks, hopping to the front and changing into human again.

"About an hour," I reply, looking at the clock on the car's LED screen.

I bring the car to a stop with a view overlooking a lake that is white under the moonlight, the trees around it thick and lush. I turn the lights off and lean in for a kiss, she responds kissing me back, I place my hands in her hair and then stop pulling away from her.

"Sweetie, will you marry me?" I ask pulling a small box out and holding it up to her, the moonlight glistening off the pale purple stones set on a silver ring.

"YES!!" Xenia replies, with elation as she hugs me once the ring is on her finger.

I kiss her again and head out the car longing for her to follow me. She follows me and we head to the lake down the hill, for a swim in the moonlight, the Ancients looking down on us smiling as we have fallen in love in all forms of life.
