CHAPTER 7: A STRANGE ENCOUNTER

XENIA'S POV

It's now evening after a long at school. So many questions are racing through my mind as I lie on my bed in the dark under my comforter. I turn my head and look at my alarm clock, and see its well past one in the morning. I get up and head to my bathroom. Turning on the light only to see a strange pixie trying to remove my toothpaste lid from the tube. I sneak up on him and snatch him up from his jacket collar.

Looking at him sternly I head back to my room.

"Soreni. Soreni I need you right now I have a problem." I state while dumping the little creature into the now modified jar that Soridia was in.

She heads out groggily only to be fully awake when she spots the jar.

"Get him out of here and leave a harsh message to tell his clan" she states fuming with anger.

"Wait a second, let me see if they are in the book because I remember seeing an image similar to what they look like" I state rapidly while grabbing the book and heading into the bathroom to keep the book hidden from his glaring, thieving eyes.

Rummaging through the pages it takes me a few minutes to search through the large book of creatures that my ancestors had compiled before the book went missing, but I find what I'm looking for. Eldrino, a form of pixie due to ear and body shape as well as size. It seems as though their wings were removed generations ago due to their mischievous manner and their lusts after other's property. Warning keep all belongings hidden in a steel or metal box with multiple locks as many items go missing, however, if items go missing ask for them to be returned and in exchange to receive food as a reward for returning the item.

Great, just great no mention of how to rid myself of their infestation. Guess I'll have to listen to Soreni. Placing the book in my pocket I enter my room, "Looks like we'll have to take your idea, the book has no mention of how to get them to leave but it does say how to get my stuff back" I state entering the room and heading to the jar. Inverting the jar I begin talking to the eldrino, "Get your whole family here tomorrow night with all the goods you took from me and in exchange I'll give you a meal and a chance to explain yourselves. I am a Carter and command this of you. Now go." He darts off leaving a streak of brown hair behind him in fear. "Too harsh?" I ask Soreni wondering if the plan will work. "No, it was perfect. I've never seen anyone do that before." She says in awe of me.

We both yawn at the same time and smirk at that. "It's time for bed, don't you think?" I question now sleepily "You bet" She replies while hopping onto my shoulder till my bed before flapping to her house. "Good night" "Good night" I reply and before long we are passed out.

A few hours later I hear shuffling in my room, only to see the whole eldrino horde at my bed side.

"Uh, Soreni." I state in awe.

Looking at the clock I see it's only two a.m.

Even better I think to myself sarcastically, less sleep. Oh how the teachers are going to have a field day on me tomorrow.

I stare down at the group and see my stuff piled behind them. An old teddy, a hair brush, I wondered where that went, an old drawing, now I'm getting mad, that was my favourite drawing a few years back. There's more but it'll have to wait for me to sift through it all.

Soreni comes out stretching with sleep encompassing her. I can see the disdain on her face as she sees the horde gathered by my bed side. She floats down and sits on my shoulder snuggling into my hair.

"Ok, this is how it's going to work. I want the clan leaders up here now. We are going to have a little chat. The rest of you will stay there and not move, sit if you like I don't really care just keep your traps shut and behaviour top class. If you don't ill set your pants on fire." I see the shocked and fearing looks on their faces.

The leaders clamber up the blanket to reach my bed.

I reach into my drawer and grab a snack bar that I was saving. Oh well, I'll just have to get a new one.

"You give this out the group" I state in a tone of command.

One of them drags the snack bar to the edge and drops it to the floor before sliding down the blankets to share the food.

"Right deal completed. If you guys want something just ask me and I'll make a plan for you if it's reasonable" I complain.

"Yes your Greatness" they pipe up together bowing to me.

"Last thing, who is Mereth?"

A hushed silence follows at the mention of his name.

A small young eldrino dressed in a white robe steps forward from the leader group. I recognise him instantly as the thief trying to steal my toothpaste lid.

I hop up and head to the bathroom, remove the lid and give it to him. He stares at me then the lid and back at me.

"That's for helping me with my homework the other day" I say proudly with thanks. "Now if you don't mind I'd like some sleep please."

They all jump up and race out. The last thing I see is the white coat of Mereth

"finally some peace and quiet" Soreni mumbles and snuggles into my hair again.

I lie there a little while listening to her light breathing and before too long I'm in a deep slumber, dreaming of pixies
