AN: I am extremely sorry for the long wait for this chapter. It's been a while and I can only blame exams and my lazy bum for that! But without further ado, enjoy the newest chapter of Wolfie in the Middle. (No editing)
“Are you ready?” Drake asked in way of greeting when I opened my door to him that morning. He was smiling lazily, one hand propped on the door frame as he looked down at me. Feeling a little self-conscious, I tugged at the edge of my t-shirt wondering whether I should have chosen to wear what Hayden had picked out for me. The outfit had been jaw-dropping but was a little too bright for my liking. In the end I chose my own outfit; a white t-shirt with a simple pair of light, skinny jeans.
“Sure,” I answered, looking down at the floor. “What do you have planned?”
“Ah,” Drake said, pausing for a long while. I looked at him tapping the side of his nose and felt my heart do a giddy leap. He was wearing a crisp white shirt with even crisper jeans. When he turned so I could follow him down the stairs to the kitchen, I caught a glimpse of the design. Calvin Klein. There wasn’t a part of him that was out of place. Every little bit of the guy was immaculate, like something out of a Greek myth. Like the Greek gods themselves had each contributed to a piece of Drake Riley.
In the kitchen I shook myself out of my reverie to focus on the Riley family. Thea was helping the house maid, Geraldine, prepare breakfast while Hayden, Alyxandra and the eldest Riley brother I had first seen a while ago at the werewolf party sat eating.
“Good morning Saskia,” Thea greeted me. “Had a good sleep?”
“Yes thank you Thea.”
The eldest Riley brother stood out of his chair and extended a hand over the table.
“I’m very pleased to meet you Saskia. I’m Zac Riley.”
I shook his head and we exchanged smiles. I could tell it came easily to the large, blonde werewolf. He looked slightly menacing with his footballer bulk and height but when he smiled, it was almost as if he wiped all of your stresses away. Even his hand in mine was a reassuring gesture.
“I’m glad to meet you,” I said as Drake pulled out a chair at the table for me. I took it and accepted Thea’s offering of a plate full of fried-goodness. Drake did the same and we sat eating in comfortable silence.
The first to get up and leave was Alyxandra and Hayden who were eager to get away to a CD signing. Something about their favourite band visiting the mall and giving away signed CDs. They offered me an invitation too but with a sneaky side glance at Drake, I said no.
“As much as I’d like to stay, dad’s waiting for me in his office. Once I’m done with that, I’ll come over and say bye Mom and then I’m off. Zelda wants to go bathroom shopping,” Zac explained to us all. He didn’t sound very excited about the shopping but just by mentioning his dad, his voice got tense.
“I’m glad you dropped by for breakfast first though. It’s been good to have you,” Thea said, bending down and kissing the top of her sons head then settling into a seat of her own. He looked slightly embarrassed but his relaxed smile showed his joy.
“Come back soon bro. It’s not the same without you,” Drake added.
“Don’t you mean it’s not the same without having someone to prank all the time? I remember all those times you and Julien would gang up on me. It was always so unfair,” he chuckled.
Drake joined in with the laughter, his smile reaching the corners of his eyes.
“I remember it very clearly. My eldest son coming and whining to his mommy about his younger brothers ganging up on him. Not what you’d expect from the eldest.”
