I put a video of the song I've been madly in love with for the past few days. It would be good if you listened to it at full volume while reading the chase scene at the end ;)
It was Friday and preferably my last day of school. I wasn’t upset about leaving Carmel High because it was a routine I had gone through many times. But there was one person I was reluctant to leave behind.
“Would you like some?” Sammy asked me in her soft, quiet voice. I smiled at her outstretched hand holding a tuna sandwich and reluctantly shook my head. It was her lunch, not mine.
Sammy shrugged and bit into the sandwich, gazing down at the scratched, wooden table we were sitting on. Much to my annoyance, my stomach growled. Sammy giggled but she didn’t look at me. I smiled a little too but it didn’t do much to hide the fact that I was starving. I had tried to get used to having two meals a day, breakfast and dinner but it didn’t seem to be working. Either because werewolves needed a lot of nutrition or I was one greedy beast. I like to think it’s the former and not the latter.
“Are you sure?” Sammy asked me. She pulled out a red, juicy apple and offered it to me. I knew an apple wasn’t what I needed but if my memory served right, apples could be fulfilling too.
“Fine,” I sighed under my breath. I took the apple from her hands and bit into it greedily, the fresh juice spilling out and dribbling over my chin. I didn’t notice the werewolves approaching me until a shadow was cast over our table. Sammy didn’t look up, most likely because she was afraid of who she’d see. There were a lot of bullies at Carmel High and eye contact with them was not a good idea. Unless you were me, of course. I looked up, a menacing scowl already present on my face but it dropped as soon as I saw the three werewolves standing there. I sniffed the air and only caught a weak stench of werewolf. Showers could play a big part in dampening one’s smell.
“Yes?” I grumbled.
The sophomore flicked his eyes towards the doors that led outdoors and back at me. I took the hint and led the way onto the patio the trio were eating on yesterday.
“What now?” I asked them, my arms automatically folding across my chest.
Des cleared his throat and began to talk. “Yesterday I told my father of your condition and your request to leave as soon as possible. But he, well he –”
The bigger of the two freshmen took over and blurted, “He declined.”
He what? How dare he forbid me from leaving his territory. I wasn’t a part of his pack, he couldn’t order me around. No one can, my wolf growled.
“On what grounds?” I asked menacingly.
“He knows of your situation and he doesn’t want to let a young girl such as yourself go. Our father feels responsible for you.”
I scoffed and let out a deep growl. It came out louder than expected as my wolf joined in. The smaller freshman cowered away while the other two brothers winced and waited for me to stop.
“No one is responsible for me,” I snapped at them.
“I told him that Saskia. I told him you wouldn’t want his care but he refused. You have to realise that my father thinks he has to help any werewolf within his range. It’s something to do with pride and hospitality, I don’t know for sure,” Des explained.
“Whatever it’s for, he wants to see you,” Des’ younger brother spoke up.
A thought occurred to me. How the hell did this alpha even know what situation I was in?
