The next few weeks were a blur of constant teases from my mother and my TitaMaddie. I can never forget how happy they were when I told them that Darren and I are no longer best friends' coz we're in a relationship already.
One thing that made me laugh more was my mother's words. "At last, your best friend finally grew a pair of balls to admit everything to you. I thought he would never get to say the truth of his feelings for you."
Really and seriously, I wanna laugh at that statement all the time.
So yes, it has been a couple of weeks since Darren and I entered the world of boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. So far, so good, I must say. We remained acting like best friends, only there was this constant I love you's and kisses and hugs. Oh, and I would be a dork if I wouldn't include the frequent make out sessions we do.
Darren showed me a different side of him. It was something that he never showed me when we were still just in the level of best friends. Now that we're in a relationship, he was more caring and sweeter towards me. I love it, no doubt on that. He gives me enough counts of blushing whenever we're together.
As of for Darren and JK, they were cool. No more cold speeches when they talk at each other. I don't know about them but it was amazing, though. It wasn't that I was complaining over the fact of how they grew close. One day they were like strolling in thin ice whenever they encounter, then the other day, they were like best friends. Talk about bromance crap and all, it was crazy.
Presently, I was in the tire swing by the big tree in the middle of the province. The province wasn't huge, so getting to the big tree and the tire swing wasn't a struggle. This place was my favourite place. When Darren and I found a big tire and a thick roll of rope, we went in this tree to tie it up and here I am, sitting like a boss with a lollipop in my mouth. Mature, I know.
"You're sixteen and soon to be seventeen, but you still suck on lollipops." Parry complained while we Skype, "Don't you have any other better things to suck on aside from a candy with a stick?"
I rolled my eyes, "What better things are there for me to suck?"
She grinned. Her eyes were twinkling. "Darren's di—"
"Ew, ew!" I cut her off. "Shut up! You're so gross!"
She chuckled. "What?" she asked innocently, "I mean that thing is way better to suck on, than on a lollipop, sweetie." She informed me as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Men are made with that part of them for a purpose."
"That is so nasty," I told her. "You want me to do that when we haven't even slept together. You're so dirty minded."
"And proud of it," she shrugged her shoulders as if being dirty minded wasn't something big deal. "Anyhow, how are you guys?"
"Fine and all," I told her, "Nothing to be worried about, to say the least,"
"That's good to hear then," she said with a smile. Ever since I started talking to Parry, I never noticed how much I missed her. I missed hearing her actual voice and not the techno one. I miss having her around and not just on phone videos or something. "You know what? Time zones are stupid." She informed me and I found myself nodding in agreement. "I'm sorry but I have to go. We have this crazy family dinner for something,"
"Okay, Freight," I told her. "Take care,"
"Sure thing," she smiled.
"Oh, and don't be too much of a headache to Susan and to your older brother," I joked and she just rolled her eyes at me playfully before saying goodbye and ending our Skype conversation. With that, I was alone again. But thank god for boyfriends and their good timings.
"Hey," Darren said as he leaned against the tree's trunk and smiled down at me. I found myself blushing just because of his cheeky smile and his bright small eyes that were looking at me with adore.
"Hey," I said back and he leaned in to kiss me on the cheek. "I thought you were going to drive TitaMarinel and Lyn to the clinic for Lyn's check up?"
He smiled at me once again. Does this man ever get tired of smiling at me? "Been there done that," he said. "What do you want to do this afternoon?"
I shrugged. "I got nothing planned." I informed. "You?"
"I have nothing planned, either." He said with a short chuckle then sat at the ground. His hand intertwined with mine as the two of us watched the sunset. "But you know, unplanned things are better. Like this,"
I looked down at him. "Yeah," I agreed with his statement. "This one's better than having a fancy date or something."
"Speaking of dates," he started, "Do you want me to take you out or something?"
I smiled at his question. Darren knows that I hate it when he spends a lot of money just for me. I was never a fan of gifts and surprises, even dates. People say I am weird for that, coz most girls wanted a lot of fancy stuffs from their boyfriends, but I wasn't one of those girls. To hear Darren asking me permissions about getting me something was cute.
"Nah," I disclosed, "I like things simple as this."
"So you mean I can't take you out for dinner or something?" he asked, his face showing me a pout. God damn it Darren, how do you manage to be so cute in the middle of your teenage years?
I thought of something. "I would prefer it more if you cook something for me," I told him, "That's thriftier and more effort-ed."
"How do hot wings, fries and sodas sound to you?" he offered. Just at the mention of hot wings and fries made my mouth water already. Those foods were my weakness I would do anything just to buy a lot of those to satisfy myself.
"Please," I said, sounding more eager than I meant to.
He chuckled. "Okay, I would cook some of those probably this week so you can eat with me," he said, "We could like... have a picnic in here or something if you want to?"
"That's a great idea, Darren!" I exclaimed happily, "Okay, stop. You're getting me excited with your plans."
He laughed again. "Okay, I'll stop." So he did stop, but his eyes darted to me and his stare won't budge. "Nic," he called.
"Yeah?"
"Can I kiss you right now?" he asked, his eyes focused on my lips. It didn't took me long enough to nod at his request and before I know it, the soft flesh of his lips were on mine, the two pairs of lips kissing for dominance.
Darren's hands found home on my hips as he gently pulled me out of the tire swing and on to his lap in a straddling position. My legs were on either side of his body and my hands were rested on his hair as I tugged at the tips of his soft dark hair. They were usually spiky and gelled to perfection, but right now, it was simply simple.
My heart was pounding in my chest so loud, I wasn't so sure if Darren can hear it or not. Goodness, I love this man beneath me so much; I could do a lot of things just for him. If making out with him under the tree like this counts in that, then so be it. No measure of words can explain how happy and in love I am feeling right now. If there is one thing I want for this moment that is I want it to never stop.
Though the kiss was sweet, there was a ting of roughness on it. I don't know who among the two of us went to do it a little rougher but complaining over this is the last thing I would do. Darren pulled away, his eyes darted and focused on my now swollen lips, the two of us equally breathless. "I love you, Nic," he said, "You have no idea how badly I wanted to do that ever since."
I smirked as Inuzzled on his chest. "I was feeling the same thing, Ren," I admitted. "I loveyou too." I confessed. "I love you so, so much."
