Rae's POV

After Shane and Isaac picked me up, I went inside the house to get ready to go to Lanie's house.

I still can't shake this morning out of my head. Lanie knows about what happened, but I've never mentioned the night terrors I have to her.

I get in the shower to clean the sweat and grime off of my body. I finish up, and dry myself off. I comb out my hair and use a blow dryer the boys have. I pull out my straightener and run it through my hair. I pull on my warm-ups and my maroon sweatshirt. I pull on my black Converses, and apply my makeup. I don't put on much today, since it's only going to be Lanie and her family.

I grab my backpack an glide down the stairs. I find Sterling in the living room, watching one of my favorite movies. The Patriot with Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger(he does the Joker in Batman). I leap over the side of the couch.

"This is literally my favorite movie. I can quote it word for word." Sterling smirks at my comment.

"So can I. Are you ready to head out?"

"Yes. I'll direct you when we get in the car."

He gets his keys and we walk to his car. A nice old Chevy pick-up truck in blue. This is one of the cars I want. This one or an old Mustang. I jump in the front seat next to him.

"This I one of the cars I've been wanting since I was 12."

"Really? Most girls want a Bug or a fancy car."

"Not me. I wanted this one or an old Mustang. I was hoping to get one when I turned 16." My voice trails off and mind immediately goes to that tragic night. Stop thinking about it Rae. Come on.

"Thanks for taking me, Sterling. Turn right hear."

"No problem Rae." He stays quit for a few seconds. "Hey, Rae? What's your last name?"

"Martin, why?"

"Well I just never knew. Wait Martin? Like Sydney Martin?"

"How do you know my sister's name?" I stare at him. I only mentioned her once. He couldn't have remembered it unless he knew her before.

"Um, well, you see Griffin used to um- he used to date your sister."

I slam my hands on the dash. "Griffin dated my sister?" He has to be joking.

"Yeah, he um- kinda dated her when He was still in high school."

"Hold the fucking phone. When did he date her?"

"When he was a junior. Maybe three years ago."

"She would have been 15! That's super creepy!"

"Yeah, well I don't really know what he was doing. You can ask him later."

We drive in silence the rest of the way except for when I gave him the directions. He finally pulled into Lanie's driveway. I said thank you and told him to pick me up in two hours. I watched him back out, and drive away.

I knock on the front door, and wait until someone opens it. It is Lanie's older brother, Jackson. He's probably home from college for his spring break. He's 22 and is in his senior year if college. He's going to Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. It is on the other side of the country. We live in the Bay Area in California. Anyway, he opens the door to let me inside.
