Chapter 14

I load Petey onto the trailer and then my coach drives away with the trailer and Petey to the show grounds. Dylan and I drive behind her in his car. I try and keep my nerves down by listening to music from my phone and it's working.

Dylan and I get to the show grounds and we first go and get me registered. I get my number and it's my lucky number 4. We head to my coach and get Petey off the trailer. Dylan holds Petey while I give him a quick brush and put on his saddle.

Once I finish putting Petey's saddle on I grab my helmet and riding boots and put them on. Then I grab Petey's bridle and put it on him. When we both are ready Dylan, Petey and I head to the warm up ring so I can warm Petey up.

Not to long its time to walk the course. I walk the course with my coach and then I head back to Dylan and Petey. I get on Petey again and wait for my turn to jump.

*Time Lapse*

It's just about my turn to go and I'm getting even more nervous than I was earlier. Then they call my name.

"Next up is Thalia Parker and Petey"

I look at Dylan one last time before I enter the show ring. I hear the buzzer go and Petey knows that sound means go and go fast. I make him canter and we go to the first jump, clear the jump and race to the rest of them.

When Petey and I finish the course and we leave the ring Dylan walks up to us with a big smile on his face.

"That was amazing Princess", He tells me.

"You really think so?" I say.

"Yes. I can't believe you and Petey have the fastest time", He says with a smile.

"Wait what?" I say shocked.

"You didn't check your time did you?" He asks and I shake my head no.

"Well you Princess are in first place", Dylan says with a smile on his face.

I get off Petey and hug him. I can't believe I might win. I take Petey back to the trailer and untack him. I put him in the trailer and head back to where Dylan and everyone else is. When Dylan sees me he has a big smile on his face, I can't help but smile back at him.

We watch the rest of the show until I get hungry. So I decide to get some food from the food area.

I get there and wait in line. When it's my turn I order my food and pay. When I get my food I head back to where Dylan is but some guy comes in front of me.

"Hey beautiful what's your name?" He asks.

"It's get out of my way you creep", I say trying to get by him.

"That's no way to treat someone who wants to take you out on a date", He comments.

"Well maybe I'm already taken", I remark. That's when I see Dylan walk over to me and the creep.

"Is there a problem here?" Dylan asks the guy.

"No, I was just talking to this beautiful girl right here", The creep says to him.

"Well I suggest you stop because she's already taken", Dylan says clearly getting annoyed at the guy.

"Well where is her boyfriend then?" He asks.

"You're speaking to him, so back off", Dylan says. Then the creep walks away and I mouthed "Thank you" to Dylan and hug him.
