The three Winchesters hunted together through the summer. August 5th, Sam told John and Dean he was leaving for Stanford on Saturday. The fight started. Dean stepped back, his heart aching.

Castiel had been back for a while. He could feel the confusion, anger and pain his charge was feeling.

'Father? Sam is leaving him again. This time he is not coming back.'

'Not for quite a while, my son. Be there for him, because the father will not be a help.'

Dean heard his dad tell Sam not to come back. He started to interrupt but his father turned to him.

"Did you know about this?"

"I brought him the letter."

John struck his older son and dragged him over to his brother.

"Take a good look, Dean. This is the last time you'll see him. Get out, Sam."

"Dad," Dean interrupted.

"Shut up, Dean. Don't ever interrupt me again."

John walked out and did not come back that evening.

Saturday morning, Dean drove his brother to the bus station. They had not talked since Dad left them.

Sam got his ticket and checked in his duffle. Dean walked up to him and tried to show bravado. He wanted to act as if it didn't matter, but the angel standing behind him could hear the screams in his brain.

The two brothers stood together until they called for boarding. Sam turned to leave when his big brother put a hand on his arm. The younger Winchester turned to face him.

"I have been saving to buy new wheels for Baby. I figure you need it more than she does." Dean handed his brother one hundred and fifty dollars.

"Wish it was more, Sammy. I'll try to stop by and see you once in a while."

"Dean, I wish you wouldn't. I'm going to be real busy and I'm starting a new life without hunting."

The older brother's eyes widened and he took a deep breath and said, "Oh."

Dean watched his brother enter the bus and take a seat. He watched the bus leave and followed it out of the terminal. He did not move until the bus turned a corner, headed for the interstate.

Castiel could sense the pain but could not help him.
