Bobby finally arrived three hours later. He took the back roads and traveled between ninety and a hundred miles per hour. He pulled into the motel parking lot, driving around the building until he found Dean's car. Getting out, he grabbed a duffle and a large medical kit. The man walked over to the room the car was parked in front of and knocked on the door. There was no answer.
"Dean."
There was still no answer. Bobby picked the lock but found there was a chain on the door. He moved back and ran towards the door, ramming it with his shoulder. The chain broke on the second attempt.
Picking up the things he had taken out of his car, the man entered the motel room and locked the door. He looked around. Dean had not salted the entrances. He quickly did the job and set the duffle and kit on the other bed.
He turned Dean over and examined him. The boy had staunched the bleeding but it was a deep wound. He opened the kit and removed the bandage. He carefully examined the entire area and realized it was a deep stab wound and the knife was probably demonic. Bobby poured whiskey on the wound. Dean jerked but did not revive.
"Damn it, boy," Bobby whispered as he threaded several needles. For the next thirty minutes, the man stitched the hunter's wound and kept up a monologue as he did so. When he was through, he applied pressure to the area, checking for internal injuries. He found nothing. He undressed Dean and covered him with a blanket. He gave him a shot of antibiotics and looked up a spell against demonic caused wounds.
Tired, Bobby laid down on the other bed and dozed off.
