•••EVANGELINE•••

"I would like to call on stage.." The Principal looked down at the piece of paper.

"Evangeline 'Evie' DeLentré." Oh My God! He said my name!!

"The subcaptain for Skill group. Everybody give her a round of applause." I stood on the stage proudly as I heard people clap for me. But the claps fade away and is soon replaced by....sound of my alarm?

Ring. Ring. Ring. Ring. Ring

I woke up realizing it was all a dream.

Ugh! Why?

I narrowed my eyes at the alarm. My nemesis. I accidentally tossed the alarm to the floor out of anger and broke the glass cover of it.

No. No. No. Nana brought that for me.

I threw my body back to my bed, my true love. I took the blanket and covered myself.
I'll just close my eyes for a bit...

Ring! Ring! Ring! Ring! Ring!

"Ahhhhhhhhhhh", I yelled. "Didn't you just get broken?" I screamed at the harmless alarm. Okay. I'm going insane.

First my dream and now---

My dream!!

I bumped into realization that today was Selection Day!

The day I'd been waiting for.

So the selected students from my school would be taken to a trip! And Only 30 students would be selected out of 120 senior students, which made it even more exciting.

These 30 selected students would be divided into three groups - Beauty, Skill and Wisdom.

I found this grouping system very critisizing though. It just didn't sound right. Grouping people that way. They talk about saying no to labels and here they were grouping us into Beauty, Wisdom and Skill.

But you can't say no to your principal especially when you know the idea was given by his 10 year old son.
I wish our principal had a brain! I mean, a useful one. Not one filled with water that he already has!

And I also wish I became the subcaptain of skill group as my one and only crush Jake Martin will be there.

Ahh... Jake Martin. That one handsome guy.

You see, I like Jake since forever. And I didn't think he saw that. But he has been acting a bit different towards me lately. And In a Good way! I don't really know what's going on.

Anyway...

I quickly got out of bed and took a long shower.

Most people say I have a very weird taste in fashion. But I don't see how a brown sweater and tracksuit wouldn't match. And it was completely justified. It was winter and I was experimenting outfits. Trying to be like my sister but I failed miserably.

My beautiful sister Elina works at a magazine company and she is Miss I know everything in fashion. She was the it girl back in her days in high school, something I can never be. Haha. The fact doesn't bother me though. I'm fine the way I am.

I dried and wrapped myself with a towel and headed to my closet to take my dress. I hesitated a bit when I didn't get it instantly.

My dress! I couldn't find it anywhere! I raided my closet and end up messing my room. I swear a tear escaped my left eye.

I wore my robe and hurried to my mom, my last hope. She always knows where everything is. Always.

"Hey mom, I can't find my dress. Mom please tell me you have or it will be my doomsday. Mom my dress--" I said hesitatedly.

"Good morning to you too, darling. "

"Oh sorry, Good morning"

"Good. Here is your dress" she sang as she hands over a dress to me. It was a plain knee length black dress with tinges of dark blue on it. It had a thin lace lavished down the waist completing the design.

Elina sent it for me. Gosh, I love that girl. I'm probably gonna match this with my favourite black leather jacket and my boots.

And they say I have a no fashion sense.

"And?" Mom asks me. I stare at her for a moment until I realized she said something.

"This is beautiful... Thanks mom" I exclaim.

I rushed to my room and wear the dress. I put some makeup on and fixed my hair. I felt confident about myself. I look perfect and I am going to be chosen today.

Hopefully.

I finished my breakfast and when I was about to leave, Jason knocked at the main door.

"Good morning..." I sang to Jason while I took my bag.

"Morning. Ooh I loved your dress." he complimented which made me turn around acting like some supermodel. I giggled at his words "Thank you." I said to him. "Mom, Jason's here.
I'm leaving. Byee" I said to my mom.

"Okay honey, take care and best of luck" she said as I closed the main door.

Jason was my neighbor and also one of my best friends. We had been friends ever since we were children. Jason looked at me, "Excited?"

"Yesss. What about you? " I turned to him while walking. He had a worried look on his face.

He rubbed his hands, "As long as I am with my friends" he replied.

A little chuckle left my mouth as I heard him say that. He always had this caring, friendly nature. Today something was different about Jason though. I thought he was worried but he would tell me eventually .

"I hope I get chosen as subcaptain for Skill. There is a lot of hope as only me and Charlie signed up to be sub-captain. And Charlie seems weak to me.", Well Charlie does have chicken legs.

It is said that he wet his pants last year, just because Mike Tyson, a really big bully, asked him for lunch. And he just asked for it normally, much as like a friend would, as he was trying to be good.

Can't blame him though. Cause first, it could be just rumours and Mike was intimidating, Oh Lord!

I shook those nasty thoughts out of my head and looked at Jason, and I was getting worried.

Jason looked at me with eyes, filled with regret. His eyes meet mine as he said " Well, about that... IForgotToSignYouUpAsSubCaptain"
