Trapped in a Fantasy

Chapter-2

0245 hours

I stepped out of my room and locked the door behind me. As I walked through the corridor, I ran my frozen hands through my hair.

The Colonel had announced an urgent meeting. All representatives of the major countries and high level agents were called upon to discuss about the matter. I checked the time from my watch, "2:45 AM"

I halted at the door and swiped my ID through the scanner.

"Biometric Data required", a panel opened beside the metallic door. I placed my thumb firmly on the fingerprint scanner.

The hologram that appeared on the door stated and orated in sync,

"International Scientific Investigation and Enforcement Division
[ISIED]

Identity Authentication Confirmed.
Welcome, Major Alex White"

The door clicked open after confirmation. The room was in mayhem. Everyone was chattering about the purpose of today's meeting. As soon as I was in, all eyes were on me. They all stood up from their chairs, "Good morning", they all said in unison.

I wouldn't exactly call 3:00 AM morning. I replied, "Good Morning." and sat on one end of the table.

Everybody was seated and silence fell in the room. Nobody dared to talk. The
silence was without a doubt, very disturbing. The silence was broken when the Colonel entered the room. Everybody stood from their seats and showed him respect.

"You may all be seated." he went to the other side of the table and switched the hologram on.

He looked at me with a very frustrated look and I could tell it was directed to me. Although a man of power, I could hear the Colonel's unsteady heart rate. He tried his best to conceal how stressed he was.

He then opened a confidential file
and played a video. He paused the video for a moment and looked at the other 5 people who are seated. "You may recall that 11 years ago, we had found an extra terrestrial gem on Earth." He then looked at me. My jaw tightened as I realized what the meeting was about.

He continued, "We called that gem 'The Gerldrix'. I am sure all of you are aware of the outstanding power it possess." he paused. "We had given the Gerldrix to our best scientists for research but unfortunately luck was not on our side. Even today, we will never forget the sacrifice those scientists made to protect the Gerldrix from Zelroth"

Zelroth

I clenched my fist as I heard his name. His existence disgusted me to the depth.

He put his hands behind him and looked at me in sympathy. He continued the video which was a CCTV footage. He paused the video in a certain angle which revealed the familiar scar.

He wore a black mask to cover the scar, revealing only half of his face. It made it clear, he was ashamed to show his scars. Beauty, Power and Revenge mattered to Zelroth more than anything else. His hunger to fulfil these factors made him biased and at a point, very evil.

"Major White, I regretfully have to say that Zelroth has escaped the prison facility. This time, we have been reported that he is not alone. There is possibly an army waiting to be led by him." , The Colonel said with an uncomfortable change in his voice.

Zelroth escaping meant the world had trouble coming it's way. Zelroth left a trail of dead bodies wherever he went. Now, it was a matter of when he would strike.
