•••THIRD PERSON•••
"Something bizarre happened with those high school students. Evangeline and Samantha to be specific." Alexa spoke as she sat on a chair in Alex's personal chamber, sipping the hot tea from her cup.
"That's what happens when you break the rules." Alex deadpanned while going through several files. "AICOS, could you open the 267 disaster please." he said to the system.
"No. I meant before they came here. Back there in America. They don't seem like normal kids." Alexa explained. "I spoke with Samantha about her hallucinations. She talks about voices. A woman's voice. Who tells her when and what to do."
Alex turned around, furrowing his eyebrows. "You've got my attention. Carry on."
"She says the voice who is supposedly a she, called her from the woods. That's the reason she went there. She told me she has been hearing the voice for years now." Alexa said. "Her counselor said it was an imaginary guardian she made up in her head to cope with her harsh life."
"What about you? What do you think?" Alex asked.
"As much as I hate to admit, I don't support the counselor in this. This is something else."
"Well, find out. And Tell me when you find something." Alex ordered and got back to what he was doing.
Alexa sat on the chair thinking about Evangeline. "Oh and your friend Evangeline, did you find anything on her?" she asked, emphasizing the 'friend'.
"Yes. But it's not necessary now. If Smith said she is fine, we don't need to worry about her past." Alex replied with a harsh voice. Alexa nodded in agreement.
"She saw the lady in a white dress in her dreams. Voices and writings. Sound familiar?"
Alex closed the hologram "Alexa, we don't have to do this again now. I told you before, I want anything to do with it. Leave it right there." Alex raised his voice. "Don't force me to compel you."
He opened back the file. After going through several files he spoke, "Alexa, We have a new mission."
"Details." she answered as she kept her cup on the table and went to stand next to him. "Oh Lord." she said when her eyes fell on the screen.
Alex enlarged the hologram. "Gloskigne, Germany. 174 dead bodies found in a town. Bodies are all recognized as the bodies of the once current residents on the town. All dead bodies have exact same marking on the left shoulder. Forensic reports show all bodies were killed in the same way. Way of death- slitting throat."
"This is bad. Really bad." Alexa says her eyes filled with terror. The image of the bodies remind her of Afghanistan. "I don't understand. Why would Zelroth kill all these innocent people?"
"He wants our attention." Alex dialed a number to the comms. "Leonard, the Gloskigne incident is probably going to go viral. The pictures were taken from a cellphone. No media involved yet. Make sure this doesn't go viral and don't let the police take this further. We will handle it." Alex dropped the call.
"What about the markings? Aren't they the symbol of---" Alexa gets interrupted.
"The Dark Lord of the 7 realms? Yes." Alex replied examining the markings.
"Were those people a sacrifice? Is he trying to summon him?" Alexa asked.
"No more ghost stories, Alexa. The symbol doesn't necessarily symbolize loyalty towards the Dark Lord. It can mean several other things." Alex said.
"But it's usually The Dark Lord." Alexa said but Alex shrugged it off.
"Zelroth has been always a loyal servant to The Dark Lord. He's gonna try to summon him but like last time we're going to stop him." Alex said.
"But the only way to stop him is to follow the prophecy." Alexa said. "The Dark Lord, Alex. That's the last warning you should be taking. So many signs are shown to you but you refuse to believe them. You can't run away from your destiny."
"Easy for you to say." Alex started typing on the hologram.
"Could you not treat this like another joke?"
"You shouldn't believe in all that." Alex deadpanned.
"What should I believe Alex? Did you forget all of it? You know all this is not normal. You know it's possible." Alexa muttered slowly. "I went to her cell to inquire. Prisoner#24. You need to listen to her Alex." Alex's eyes widened.
"Oh So now you've started visiting dangerous prisoners. What else Alexandria?" Alex yelled, annoyed.
"She's the only one with answers. She told us the day we imprisoned her. That woman knows things we don't." Alexa tried to explain.
"So what are you planning to do? Let her go. Let her help us?" Alex spat.
"Yes? " Alexa said. "If she can't help us, nobody can."
"There are other people, I'm sure." Alex yelled, and took his access card from the drawer in the corner of the room.
"Alex listen, we are going towards a dead end. We can't trust this organization, that's one thing. Zelroth is on the loose and he's planning to do bad things, things that could destroy the earth. That's another."
"I know all that"
"We're running out of time and solutions. And your power, it proves that all this could be true." Alexa said.
Alex sighed. "What do you expect me to do? Save the world like a superhero? We both know that can never happen. I'm not a hero."
"We have resources, money, access to munitions, a lab, a jet, basically everything we need to do this alone. We can do what we have to do without them. Without authority." Alexa said. "This quest. I don't think it would be good if the organization knew about it."
"And what should we tell them exactly? That we're going on vacation to Hawaii? When the world needs us the most? Don't you think that's suspicious?" Alex said.
"We tell them the truth. Just not all of it." Alexa said with the devilish look in her eyes. "You taught me well."
How on earth is she my sister?, Alex thought. Alexandria's behavior would scare him sometimes.
"Where exactly are we gonna do all this?" Alex asked.
"The mansion" Alexa replied.
Alex stayed quiet, thinking about it. It was a burden to hold such a destiny upon your shoulders. A curse. "I'll think about it." he said.
"So are you gonna let her go? Prisoner #24?" Alexa asked.
"There are other people. Just not her. Please understand that Alexandria."
"Who do you have in mind?" Alexa asked
"Charles" Alex said and left the lab.
"Charles? Wait, what? " Alexa asked. But he was long gone.
