Chapter - 29

Location: Paris, France
The Mansion.

"These contact lenses are irritating my eyes." Evangeline frowned. Only an hour was left till they were to start the mission. She wore a long halter-necked gown. The satin, blue fabric clung to her body, revealing her curvy frame.

"Try not to blink too much. It just blurs the lenses." Leonard said, typing on the hologram in the jet. "Blink thrice to alert us if anything seems to go wrong. I'm switching on the the lenses."

Evangeline screamed as she started seeing an x-ray vision of everything infront of her. "I CAN SEE YOUR SKULL! AHHHHHHHH YOU'RE SMILING!" Leonard shook his head and switched the lenses to normal mode. Evangeline sighed, looking at Adrian, a dialogue box popped up after detecting his face with all his information. AICOS's voice started to narrate the information visible to only Evangeline through her contact lenses,

"I. AM. HEARING. A VOICE. IN. MY. HEAD." Evangeline started to panic. "Why am I hearing a voice in my head?"

"Don't worry. It's the monitor implanted in your neck. What you see, we see." Alexa said, fixing her hair. Alexa wore a long heart-neck black gown with an emerald necklace complimenting her collarbone.

"THERE'S WHAT IN MY NECK!?", Evangeline started touching her neck, looking for the monitor. "When did you put this thing?"

"When you entered the medical ward. It was implanted to keep in check with your health." Leonard answered. "It's pretty much how they made the perfect serum to keep your organs working perfectly and vital signs on point." The hologram suddenly turned red and an alarm was released, diverting Leonard's attention. "Evangeline, stop blinking too much! You just triggered the alarm!"

"Ahhhh sorry." Evangeline gritted her teeth.

The door clicked open and a hesitant Alex entered, "I got the ring." Evangeline's heart started racing as he walked towards her and took her delicate hands. He slipped the ring into her middle finger and looked at her. "When you click the stone twice, the stone will open and reveal a sharp pin. You inject the target and the effect is immediate. So be careful where you take out the person."

Evangeline nodded, taking in a breath. She looked down at the blue stone on the ring which was placed in the center of a metallic rose. "It's beautiful", Evangeline smiled.

"And deadly." Alex added making Evangeline frown.

"Evangeline, we need to leave now." Alexa informed her, making her turn around.

"Evangeline, wait." Alex called out. Evangeline turned back to him to find Alex getting close to her. "Don't tie your hair that way--" He opened the hair clip which was holding her hair together and let her silky hair fall to her shoulders. He brought strands of her hair close to her face, "--if a person looks close enough, they'll notice the earpiece." Evangeline stood there looking at him, waiting for him to compliment her but was disappointed, "You should get going." She nodded.
