"Do not test my patience, Evangeline", Alex commanded with his deep, soothing voice, cornering her with both his muscular arms. "You do not want to know what I'm capable of doing to you" he added as she felt his icy breath on her neck.

"Bag and Tag all these bodies." Alex commanded an agent who was scanning the entire town using the hi-tech drones. "Johnson, Brooke you both secure the area with the senso-bots. Make sure no one gets in or out." Both agents nodded. "Alexa, you come with me"
Both of them headed towards the Town Hall of Gloskigne. The town hall was rather smaller than the usual ones and looked very old, it seemed as if nothing in this town had been renewed since it was built. The wood of the door seemed have rot and the glass of left window was broken. The wooden floor hadn't been polished and there was dirt on the corners of the walls.
"The symbols look even more terrifying in person. I can't believe my eyes! How is it even possible to do that to all those people in a short span of time?" Alexa questioned while walking besides Alex. Alex came to a halt infront of the door of the town hall. He opened the door slowly and pull out his gun.
"Alexa, look for anything related to the Dark Lord. This town has Veznithian ancestry. Either the people worshiped the Dark Lord or they were protecting something in this town." Alex took a step in, looking around thoroughly. "Be alarmed."
Everything inside the town hall was in place except the main desk and the four tables that surrounded it. The furniture in the room seemed to be ancient. All the seats were arranged in a circular way forming a 'C' with the desk at the end. Alex observed the chairs closely which had carvings on them.
Alex went to the center of the room, alarmed in case of a surprise attack. He stood in front of desk which had fallen to the floor. He kept the gun aside and pulled the desk in one flip. Alex circled around the table and noticed carvings made into the third drawer. He bent and tried to open, it wouldn't open until he applied force onto it. He pulled the drawer to find nothing in it.
"Did you find something?" Alexa hurried next to him.
"No" Alex narrowed his eyes. "There was something in here. Look at the carvings"
Alexa ran her over the drawer and sighed, "This is Veznithian. We need to take this to the base. But what does mean?"
"The Codex." Alex said.
"Do you think Zelroth took it?" Alexa asked.
"No. The drawer was tightly sealed and look at the bolts, I'm the first person to open this"
"Then that would mean the codex was kept somewhere else and maybe this is just--"
"clue.." Alex finished. "Take this to the plane. I'll check this place" Alexa took the drawer from him and left. Alex glanced round the room,looking for anything which would help them.
A large painting and bookcase in the corner across the room caught his eye. He looked thoroughly through the bookcase but found nothing. He checked the shelves and bookcase for any opening. He even check the painting to find nothing.
Alex was infuriated by not finding anything. That was until he saw the edge of wallpaper of the room's wall sticking out. He peeled it carefully and got satisfaction at what he saw.
"Finally" He was looking at mural which was painted to perfection on the wall. The royal crest of Lord Obonoth Vexx was on the wall. He took pictures of everything he had seen there. When he was done,he put the painting back and hid it with the bookshelf.
Gloskigne was a small town with limited number of houses. The town was so small, it wasn't even mentioned in the map. Stranded in the middle of nowhere, it was understandable why the Veznitians could have once left several important artifacts here.
Alex left the town hall and met the others of the crew. "All of you, spread. Check for any survivors. Make sure no one is left here." They all listened and spread with their assigned partners. Alexa followed Alex shortly.
After checking several homes, Alexa saw a person spying on them in a house from a distance. "Alex, I saw something." she ran towards the house.
Alexa got inside the house. "Hello? Anybody here?" she took another step. "We're not here to cause you any harm."
"Hallo. Mein Name ist Alex und wir kommen hier in Ruhe. [Hello. My name is Alex and we come here in peace.]" Alex spoke in German, hoping the person would understand. "Ich verstehe, dass es in dieser Stadt einen Anschlag gegeben hat. Wir sind hier um zu helfen. [I understand there has been an attack in this town. We are here to help.]"
Nobody answered, so they went in deeper into the house. Both of them separated ways in order to find the person faster. The house was very large, probably could have been the house of the mayor. Alex heard a sound come from upstairs. He clicked on the microphone on his ear and spoke, in order to communicate with Alexa. "Alexa, come in"
"I'm here." she replied.
"I'm going upstairs. Heard sounds.", with that he went up the stairs. He looked in all the rooms but heard faded sobs from the bathroom. He opened the door to find a girl, not much over 10, sitting in the corner with her eyes closed, holding a book in her hands.
The girl saw Alex and started to panic. "bitte verletzt mich nicht!! bitte verletzt mich nicht!![Please dont hurt me!! please dont hurt me!!]" she screamed.
"No. No. Im not gonna hurt you. Ich werde dich nicht verletzen." Alex raised his hands in surrender. He took his gun kept it slowly on the floor and kicked it away. "Du kannst mir vertrauen [You can trust me.]" he kept his hand forward. The girl looked at him and took his hand, standing up. "Wie lautet dein Name? [What's your name?]"
"Adalia" the girl replied.
"Adalia, Ich bin Alex. Ich bin hier, um dir zu helfen. Komm mit mir [I am Alex. I'm here to help you. Come with me]" The young girl held Alex's hand and started walking with him but stopped all of a sudden and ran back, picking the book from the floor. She came next to Alex again.
"Kann ich das sehen? [May I see that?]" Alex said while going down the stairs with the young girl. Adalia nodded and gave it to him.
"Alex, did you find--, oh umm, was that the person I saw" alexa said as Adalia hid behind Alex. Alex nodded and took a look at the book. Both of them stared at the book with awe. "That is exactly like the book mother had." Alexa spoke as she read the name of the book 'The VeznithianEpoch'
Even though they didn't find The Codex, they had stumbled across another manuscript which was just enough to get them what they wanted.
