Evangeline stood there in embarrassment with her cheeks a shade of pink. She hadn't thought fate would play such a game.
Everything was based on a first impression and she had given her Captain the worst one. She might have given him the sense that she was an irresponsible and desperate subcaptain.
She couldn't shake off the fear that she was supposed to spend 3 weeks with this stranger she had tried to flirt with.
"Ah! Aaron. It is a pleasure to have you as a captain." Mrs McCartney said with a smile. "This is Evangeline. The subcaptain and this is your group. Are you aware of your duties towards your team?"
"Yes, ma'am", Alex said as he switched his gaze from her to Evangeline. This is going to be a tough three weeks with her as subcaptain, he thought.
"Pleasure to meet you, Ms. DeLentre", Evangeline gulped as she heard him answer politely. He kept a fixed close gaze on her as if she were a target.
Mrs. McCartney snapped Evangeline out of her confusing thoughts, "Evangeline, three in one room. Give the room cards accordingly."
Okay that's just horrible lack of privacy, Evangeline slightly got angered as she took the cards and turned to give her group.
"Emily, Cynthia and Riley. Here is your access card", Evangeline handed them their card and turned to Sasha and gave her their card. "Sasha, Samantha and Me"
"Yay!", Sasha exclaimed making her smile. Evangeline turned and gave the three boys including Jason their card. What about Aaron's room?, Evangeline thought. Should I ask him?
"Ah Aaron?", she asked.
"Yes.", he raised an eyebrow.
"Where are you... gonna sleep?"
"In my room ofcourse.", he replied sternly. "Unless you were preparing for some alterations?"
"No. I-" Evangeline tried to find the words to answer to what he said which she didn't quite understand. Is he mocking me?
"Alright! Members of Wisdom assemble!", Alex commanded, scaring everyone. He patiently waited for everyone to form a line and listen to what he had to say but was greatly disappointed when they gave him confused looks and swarmed together causing chaos.
"Uh okay.", Alex sighed. "So for 3 weeks, I'm going to be your Captain and she-" he pointed at Evangeline. "-your subcaptain. I expect full cooperation from all of you. I'm sure you all aware of the rules and regulations and breaking the rules will get you into a lot of trouble.
"I'd like to say you are lucky to have me as captain. But unfortunately I have to say, luck does not favour you. I will not tolerate bad behavior and I expect punctuality and want all of you to treat your peers properly. So I beg you all, do not anger me." Alex stated coldy. "It won't end well." Everyone stood there, Intimidated at what they just heard.
"Am I clear?" , Alex questioned receiving only nods. "Am. I. Clear?"
"Sir yes, sir?", a few whispered in confusion making Alex sigh.
"Bloody hell." , Alex whispered to himself making Evangeline gasp. "Do you hate us Americans, Cap? Why you so salty?", she asked him in giggles.
Alex narrowed his eyes at her, his blood starting to boil. I'd rather be fed to crocodiles than have her as subcaptain, he thought.
