"I want to spend the rest of my life with you." He repeated again in confidence.
Completely speechless, I searched for the words to say. "You-- you do?" I could barely even contain my excitement.
"I really do. I know we haven't really talked about it, but I just want you to know that I do feel that way." He smiled so intensely I could tell he was beyond serious.
"I--I" I knew what I wanted to say. I wanted to say that I would marry him right then and there but it just wasn't a good time. I tried to form the words but he saw that I was struggling, so he took over.
"I know that the timing with everything isn't perfect but when it is, I would really like to make you my wife." He took both of my hands in his and chuckled a little at the fact that I was just making sounds that weren't even close to be words.
He brought my hands up to his face and kissed them ever so tenderly. "You don't have to say anything now. With everything that's happening, I wouldn't expect you to. I just want you to know where I'm at and that I love you. I want--"
I ripped my hands out of his and tackled him backwards onto the bed and showered him with kisses. Between the rapid fire of smooches, he giggled out, "So I guess I'll take that as a yes?!"
I let go of him and stood up on the bed and started jumping around like the little five year old that I really was. "Yes! Jimmy! Yes!" He scrambled to get up on his feet and jumped around on the bed with me as we laughed and hugged each other.
He abruptly stopped jumping and took my arms and held on to them so that I would stop jumping as well. I stopped jumping and observed his serious facial expression. "What? What's wrong?"
"Uhhh, nothing is wrong... its just... well... uhhh..." He closed his eyes and starting rubbing his forehead.
"Dammit, Jimmy! What is it?" I lightly smacked him on the shoulder.
"Its just..." He quickly brought his hand away from his face and blurted, "You know that wasn't be proposing to you, right?"
I threw back my head and belted out a massive singular laugh and exclaimed, "It better not have been! If it was, that was pathetic as hell!"
An extremely relieved expression creeped across his face and he let out a huge sigh of relief. "Oh thank Jesus. I hoped you could figure that one out!"
I scrunched up and stuck my tongue out with my eyes crossed and said, "I'm not as dumb as I appear, Master."
He lunged forward and threw his head forward in laughter and clapped his hands together. "That was so good. So good." He wiped his eyes and finished up his seemingly uncontrollable laughter.
"Come on," I said in my dumb voice again. "Let's get to bed." I jumped up and flopped right on to my back and landed on the bed.
Jimmy did the same and then reached over and shut out the light. I slipped my shorts and shirt off and he did the same which was always one of my favorite parts of the day... for obvious reasons. I watched him do so which was the usual. I watched as he raised his plain white T-shirt over his head and gawked as I observed the muscles in his back rippling under his skin. I admired his biceps as he used them to roll his shirt up into a ball which was quite common. He was a messy guy. He turned to face me and that's when how perfect he really was just hit me like a sack of bricks. His chest was cut like rock and his stomach was like something you only see in your dreams.
I guess in the face of marriage, I really noticed how perfect he was. Everything about him made me feel light inside and made me wasn't to jump him right then and there. I knew we were both too tired to do any of that, so I crawled over to the side of the bed where he just sat down and wrapped my arms around him, resting my hands on his beautiful chest. I began lightly kissing his neck on both sides, making sure not to touch where he had been hurt.
