Ted and Joan led Irene into the kitchen while Jack began to fight with the rest of the family. "Should I go help him?"
"No, it'd probably be better if you didn't, sweetie," Joan said quietly.
Tears streamed down Irene's face. "He's my daddy and I'm not about to let him take all of this alone," she pushed past Joan and Ted making her way into the living room.
"What are you doing, Irene?" Jack asked as she ran towards him.
"Dad, I'll do anything. I'll take a DNA test. I'll do anything just to... to... to make this-" she became overwhelmed with emotion and couldn't finish speaking.
"You don't have to do anything, Irene."
"No. I want to. Let's prove them wrong!" she cried.
Jack grabbed her hand, "Alright, let's go, Dad," Jack nearly yelled, "We're going to go get that damn DNA test."
After both samples had been taken from Jack and Irene, they waited. Neither Jack nor Irene had a doubt that the results would be positive, but Joe sat mumbling while they waited. Finally, a nurse emerged carrying a clip board, "Senator Kennedy?"
"Yes?" Jack said nearly jumping out of his seat.
She handed him the clip board and he anxiously looked at the papers. "Translation, please?" he said nervously.
"Congratulations, Senator Kennedy; you have yourself a daughter."
Irene began to cry again as she hugged Jack, "I love you, Irene."
She felt tears fall on her head and she knew her father had began to cry. He kept kissing her head and cheek, "I love you too, Daddy," she cried.
