I Will Protect You

Chapter 5

Shadow's POV
I had been walking in circles pacing the floor in the waiting room ever since they took Faker into surgery three hours ago.

I perked my ears and halted my pacing as a nurse bolted in the room breathing heavily due to her lack of breath. She looked frantically around the room until she saw me and immediately bolted over towards me.

"What is going on?! Is he all right?!" I scream scared and concerned at what was going on.

She started at me scared and utterly silent as she look at me with a face that was just about as nervous as mine was right now about the whole situation.

I put my hands on her shoulders and shook her violently snapping her out of her scared state.

"Mr. Hedgehog  awoke early from his operation and unexpectedly grew into a panicked state. He jumped off of the operation table in the middle of his surgery  and hid himself in a corner of the room and refuses to be moved from there.

The doctors and even myself are very nervous about his state, because due to him waking so early and his unfinished  procedure we are scared that he might fall unconscious or worse he could possibly-"

I cut her off before she could say anymore information that I was not willing or ready to hear," so what is going on right now?" I asked in my most patient voice despite the emotions I am feeling right now.

"The doctors are trying to do everything they can to lure him out of his hiding place, but nothing is working and Mr. Hedgehogs health is decreasing rapidly sir.

The doctors  sent me to find you since by the display of trust and affection he showed to you before, he clearly trusts you enough to come out!"

I nod my head in agreement," Just tell me what room he is in and I will see what I can do ." I said. She look relived at my reply and told me as quick as possible where his room was located  and I immediacy took off  down the hallway in a red and black streak until I reached the room.

Sonic's POV
I'm scared out of my wits as I sit in the tightest ball I have ever made in my life in a small corner of a strange room that I had never been in before.

The room itself looked almost like a laboratory but it lacked things like computers, lab coats, and leather straps.

I hissed as three men wearing green scrubs and face masks walk over to where I am and try to catch me.

I try to stand to run away but scream in agony as the pain returns back to me and I fall back to ground.

I squish further into my corner and whimper at the pain and fright that is coursing through my body.

"I just want this all to be over! Why won't it stop!?" I cry out as another wave of pain hits and I hunch over and scream again.

My heart drops to my feet when I hear the double doors of the room open and fast approaching footsteps come over in my direction.

I tense up and wince when a gloved hand slowly begins to rub my back. "Sonic come on open your eyes it's me!" The voice says as it continued to rub my back.

The feeling is calm and soothing; two luxuries that I had not had the privilege to know. I then pay attention to the voice that sounds utterly familiar.

The smooth, deep silkiness of this voice seems to brings back memories that I thought that I lost forever. I then remember the voice as the same voice that rescued me from cage. I tilt my head slightly from my lap and open up one of my eyes halfway, unable to fully open them due to my weakness. I open my mouth and speak the first name that comes to mind,"Sh-Shadow?"

Shadow's POV
'He remembers me he really remembers me!!' I screamed in my head as he whispered my name. Despite how happy I was though I needed to remain focused and help him as much as I could.

"Y-Yes Faker it's me, listen I need you to do something for me ok?" He weakly nodded his head as he slouched down a bit. This made me nervous. " I need you to stay awake and do what the doctors say they just want to make you better ok?"

He shook his head," n-no!" He weakly whimpered out. "What why?" I asked astonished at his answer. "T-There is n-no getting better o-only worse!" He whispered as he began to sob and he made his little blue ball tighter.

I pulled him into a hug and stroked his back quills," Faker don't say that your gonna get better. You're far away from that awful place and I will never let anything hurt you again ok?"

He hesitated before nodding his head. I picked him up and put him back on the table and nodded to the doctors.

I was just walking out when I heard him scream again. "NO DONT PLEASE NO MORE EXPERIEMTS!" I swiveled around on my heels to see a doctor approaching him with syringe full of sedatives and another doctor trying to hold him down.

I immediately run back over and he collapses into my arms and shakily buries his face in my chest. I tense at first since I'm not quite use to these types actions but I then relax and attempt to try and comfort him.

Once he was calm I made him look at me instead of the doctor to distract him from the injection. He let's out a small yelp as the needle pricked his skin and was injected into his blood stream.

He looks at me with tears in his eyes and i wipe them away with my thumb and kiss his forehead.

He let's out a small rough purr as he slowly becomes drowsier and drowsier. Before he completely falls into unconsciousness though he grabs my hand and weakly squeezes it with whatever strength he has left he them speaks barely above a whisper," Shadow please stay with me...never leave me, please?"

I nod and nuzzle my head against his," I will never you... Sonic...." He then smiles at me as his grip on my hand then loosens and he falls into a short slumber while his life saving operation begins.

'Sonic.' The name rolls off my tongue like silk. I don't know why but it feels so different saying his name now, it sends a very pleasurable sensation through my body. I like it.

I look down at the sleeping form beside me and grip his unconscious hand  tightly. 'Hmm Sonic...my Sonic... I like that... very much.' I kiss his forehead and take a seat in the waiting room while they continue with his operation.
